i don't know who here needs to hear this, but please never ever EVER input your writing or (anyone's, really) into an 'AI detector' tool, be it for genuine curiosity or for an attempt at a "gotcha" moment.

simply put: they don't work. (note some studies around the topic here, here, here & here, for all my fellow academia nerds out there).

the few well-meaning ones out there simply aren't accurate (did you know that ai detectors think the united states consistution is entirely ai generated?!) and the rest are so nefarious that you're pretty much just feeding the work into an AI data scraper. you're essentially doing these companies a favour by giving them new data to harvest and regurgitate on places like chatGPT.

i know we all want to maintain vigilance and ensure we aren't supporting AI content, but this is not the answer. starving a beast is what helps kill it, so don't feed it.

thinking about the immense survivor's guilt joker must have felt after shepard's death and how deeply his life must've fallen apart for him to end up in the hands of cerberus of all people

the amount of fractures he must have gotten from having to be forcibly thrown into that escape pod, then literally watching shepard die before his eyes and knowing it might not have happened had he not clung so hard to the hope of saving the normandy

god only knows how long he must have spent in hospital. and then, to add insult to injury, the alliance sweeps it all under the rug and grounds him. grounds him. being a pilot is the one thing that gave him purpose and they took it away.

now that's not to say they didn't do it without good reason. maybe he failed a psych eval. maybe the torment of all that went down over alchera was too much for him to bear and the alliance could see that. but even so. not only had he lost his ship, some of his friends (including his commander) but then he lost his career too.

when you speak to him during me1, he's so (rightfully) proud of the fact that he overcame the challenges of his disability to not only get accepted into flight school in the first place, but graduate top of his class. he worked his ass off and he earned that. and now everything he's earned has gone in the blink of an eye.

and all of this once again gives me a renewed hatred for the illusive man because. wow. you saw a disabled man, broken and shattered by layers of grief and loss, and pounced on him to not only manipulate him toward your cause but use him as a convenient pawn to manipulate shepard too.

it's so funny to me how achilles tells ratonhnhaké:ton in sequence five that he should change his name in order to pass freely in american society, and literally says the words "your skin is fair enough that you'll pass for someone with spanish or italian descent" but then proceeds to give him the name connor, which isn't either of those things — it's an irish and scottish name
