Day 20: Any tips for new systems?
Hm, I suppose... Keep in mind that you will feel like you're faking, either your system or the trauma that's influenced it. The whole purpose of a system is to separate the intensity of what you went through from you, and the purpose of the structure of the system is to hide itself as a protective measure, even from you. You will feel like you're faking as a result of these functions. You are not.
Also remember that every system is built differently based on the individual and needs they've had in life. Just because yours isn't like another's doesn't mean you aren't a system, either.
Lastly... At the beginning of discovering you're a system, things will be in upheaval. You've taken a core aspect of the system's structure and turned it on its head merely with the act of recognizing it. Things may get worse for a bit. But ultimately, things will even out once you and the rest of the system settle into the pattern now that the smoke and mirrors are gone. It will get better. - Ro
Day 21: What songs do you associate with multiplicity?
This is a tough one, while we have a few we've resonated with for a while because of our systemhood, I don't think we've been a system long enough to consciously note the ones we identify with. - Ro
I decided to take a quick perusal through our music library, but... Unfortunately almost all of the obvious choices based on songs we projected on growing up are edgy and only reinforce the "good side/evil-monstrous side" stereotype... so we'll go for the song "Stronger Than You" sung by Estelle in Steven Universe - kind of on the nose since it's sung by a character who's literally a fusion of two individuals but I think it's a good positive take on the concept meaning-wise and representationally speaking. - Terry maybe.
i don't know who here needs to hear this, but please never ever EVER input your writing or (anyone's, really) into an 'AI detector' tool, be it for genuine curiosity or for an attempt at a "gotcha" moment.
simply put: they don't work. (note some studies around the topic here, here, here & here, for all my fellow academia nerds out there).
the few well-meaning ones out there simply aren't accurate (did you know that ai detectors think the united states consistution is entirely ai generated?!) and the rest are so nefarious that you're pretty much just feeding the work into an AI data scraper. you're essentially doing these companies a favour by giving them new data to harvest and regurgitate on places like chatGPT.
i know we all want to maintain vigilance and ensure we aren't supporting AI content, but this is not the answer. starving a beast is what helps kill it, so don't feed it.

according to the book The Family, Sex and Marriage in England 1500 – 1800, during the eighteenth century men of the upper class echelon of society would use sheep gut condoms as a method of birth and disease control. they weren't easy to find, typically only sold in big european cities like paris or london so you only really had access to them if you were a well-to-do and well-travelled bloke.
and anyway, apparently these fancy devices "were secured to the wearer at the base with a red ribbon".
a red ribbon.
inch resting.
thinking about how connor asked for charles lee's name so he could hunt him down and find him later
and that was in 1760
and it's well documented that the real life charles left america for europe in 1761/2 to serve as a lieutenant in the portuguese army
so. like. i'm not saying charles fled the country because he felt threatened by a four year old. but i'm also not not saying it
this blog is officially on indefinite hiatus.
queue is now empty and i don't have the energy to add anything more: all my energy is being spent trying to survive irl. nor do i have the emotional investment in tumblr that i used to.
perhaps i will return one day.
much love to the friends i made here these past ten years.
“shortly shall all my labours end, and thou shalt have the air of freedom.”
haytham's argument against washington being elevated to commander-in-chief: the people chose nothing. it was done by a group of privileged cowards seeking only to enrich themselves. they convened in private and made a decision that would benefit them. oh, they might have dressed it up with pretty words, but that does not make them true.
ratonhnhaké:ton's comments in the next sequence: he makes a point about washington and those who back him. i hear much talk of freedom and equality, but it seems one must be a landed white man to benefit. what of someone like me? or surry?
NO LIES DETECTED. IN EITHER CASE.
you know you're a special kind of fucked up when both the protagonist and the antagonist* don't like you, bro
(* i know 'antagonist' is a tad strong of a descriptor in haytham's case)
