Rescuing the Princess | Nicole & Caroline

Getting through the men that had taken the princess hostage took a little bit longer than Nicole had expected, she was tired, and more than a little bruised beneath her armor, as she climbed the tower steps. 

Nicole had known none of this would be easy, she wasn’t the first to attempt to rescue the kingdom’s favorite princess, but that didn’t make her any less exhausted. Spending hours fighting numerous foes, foes that were doing their best to kill you, had that effect on a person. And these steps definitely weren’t helping any. As if fighting through monsters and guards wasn’t enough, they just had to put the princess in the tallest tower in the damned place. Were they trying to get her to lose weight, or what?

She took a deep breath as she finally reached the door, a gloved hand lifting the bar barricading the door, dropping it to the ground with a heavy thud. Heart thundering in her chest, she took a moment to catch her breath, letting her helmed head fall against the door, enjoying a moment of quiet, allowing herself a second to rest. 

A moment later, she carefully pushed the heavy wooden door open. "Princess? I'm here to rescue you," she called out as she poked her head into the room, hoping the princess was in a cooperative mood. There was no reason she wouldn’t be after getting rescued... but she had been trapped in the castle for weeks, kept prisoner against her will. Nicole wouldn’t blame her for being a little testy.
