Mary Macdonald: I need your advice...
Mary Macdonald: Never-mind I already did the stupid thing
“If not then I am really confused as to how to make friends.” She quipped, though what she said was kind of true. She wasn’t great at making friends without putting the moves on them at least a little bit. She listened to him explain how the situation went down from his perspective and could help but grin. Outrageous, that was a great way to describe her. “Well, I did fall from the sky, one would call me a god and you really should not question a god, Rod.”

The reality was that, yes, they wouldn’t be having this conversation if the attack wasn’t happening. That was really true, but they were having it anyway because it was frankly a needed one. He had to hand it to Mary, of course. Really, not having a wand in a time like this was… it was just so risky. He was happy he go there before anything else happened. Mary could only rely on throwing things so much without a wand. “That’s called luck, Mary, and it’ll run out.” He said, and he felt his frustration with his sister slowly evading, pure protectiveness filling him up again. He laughed a little at her words, actually finding the joke rather funny despite her tone. But still, considering their circumstance, this was no time to laugh at himself. Joey ended up shooting a few harming spells in the vampire’s direction, enough to get the creature off his feet. “Good!” He shouted, glancing over at her. Okay, how were they going to do this? He trusted Mary’s aim better than his own. A beater had a blunger and could send it off in the direction of a player, but Mary being a chaser needed certain aim. “Okay okay okay! Fuck—” and he had an idea. The thing was that for some reason, this spell was sobasic, learned in everyone’s first year and yet it was so handy. “Petrificus Totalus!” Joey shouted, sending the vampire to freeze and fall right on the ground. He looked over at his sister and smiled brightly. “Why do people always forget this spell? It buys you time. C’mon, eh—do you wanna do it or do you want me to?” Joey asked, talking about actually stabbing the vampire in the heart with the makeshift stake… which, in all honesty, kind of made his stomach feel queasy. He looked rather unsettled at the thought, but if Mary couldn’t, then he would. Somehow. “Like, before he gets back up again, preferably.”
Mary never wanted to think about her luck running out. she did so many stupid things that the day her luck actually ran out she’d probably be screwed. Not that she would say anything to her brother about that. He didn’t really need to know everything she did in her spare time, especially if it got her another lecture. Thankfully, despite sounding cold and aloof, Joey laughed at her pitiful attempt to joke. Joking, teasing, and laughing were the best ways for her to feel more like herself. she gripped the make-shift stake tightly in her hand. The rough and broken wood digging into her palms as she watched him shoot defensive spell after defensive spell at the vampire that was gunning for them. Mary was stupid or naive. She knew what the stake was for, but actually getting close enough to use it without getting hit by one of Joey’s spells seemed futile. A loud curse from Joey shook Mary out of her frozen state of thinking. The gnarly vampire froze in place and clattered to the floor. Mary would have never thought about that spell, it was one of the first spells they had learned first year. “Do it?” she asked stunned, looking at the frozen body laying half in the classroom door. a sharp prick in her palm from the stake made her realize exactly what he meant. She hesitated for a brief moment, She was alot of things but could she really be a killer? To protect Joey from being one, Mary decided, she could. Past the ribs and sternum, that was the way to the heart. Her heart fell into her gut as she brought the stake down on the beast.Joey’s curse wore off a moment too soon, Mary saw the terror in the vampires eyes as the stake found it’s mark. His body dissolved into dust before her eyes. It scattered everywhere. She sat there on the ground next to his remains, unable to move. her hand still wrapped tightly around the stake that had been in the creatures chest just moments ago. “I-I killed it...” she whispered, barely audible.
“Okay, so what plant will kill me again? —-and which will allow me to breathe underwater. UGH, I’m just really bloody confused, I don’t understand plants.”
Mary glanced up from her text book, her fingers flipping through the pages. “Ummm- I know Gillyweed allows you to breath under water...” She explained with ease. It was the one thing she was absolutely certain of in herbology, which was not one of her best classes. “and as far as I’m concerned every other plant can kill you? why are all these plants so dangerous?!?” she exclaimed in shock.
Getting away from school even just for a few hours was exactly what Mary had needed. She sat in the middle of the room among varies other Hogwarts student, sipping her hazelnut coffee waiting patiently for Flo. There was nothing like a day of shopping to take her mind off some of the things that had happened. Her face lit up as soon as she spotted Flo. “Hey! are you ready for some retail therapy? I seriously need a new pair of shoes. I’m thinking something in a six inch heel and maybe with some glitter. That will give my mom a heat attack.” She teased, her lips twisting into a smirk.

Dash tensed at Mary laying her hand on his shoulder. It wasn’t that he didn’t welcome an occasional hand on the shoulder, it was what could possibly follow after thanks to his veela qualities. “Okay, are you sure? I can’t force you to let her fix your nose for you, that’s your choice but still…” he stopped from continuing, not wanting to push the matter since there was obviously a story there. He trusted that if Mary wanted to talk about it, she would mention it to him but until then he was going to support her decisions. Dash hesitated about the party but after a few moments silence, he caved and nodded.
Touching Dash was like holding electricity in your bare hand. It was intense and she couldn’t stop smiling at him. Even as he tried again to get Mary to let Madam Pomfrey fix her nose. She almost considered it, but even if Dash wanted her to she wasn’t sure she could. “Thanks...” was all she could say as she reluctantly pulled her hand off of his shoulder. “Might be a story for another time...” As soon as Dash nodded his head, Mary jumped out of the bed Madam Pomfrey had put her in. She hated being confined to a bed for any amount of time. She had chicken pox as a child and was still outside playing, running from her mother to avoid laying in bed. “It will be fun I promise.” She said with a soft smile, she crooked her finger in his direction before she left the hospital wing.

Dirk was beginning to think that everyone must be back in their respective dorms, because he wasn’t coming across anyone else. He was still shaken up from his little run in with Bellatrix, and all he wanted to see now was the Ravenclaw common room. Actually, he wasn’t even 100% sure what floor he was currently on. Just as he started to look around, he heard a soft voice which he knew that he recognised, but couldn’t quite pinpoint it. “Friend..” Dirk whispered. “Although, a vampire would say that” A small smile twitching at his lips as Mary came into his line of sight. “Are you alright?”
Mary breathed a sigh of relief as she saw Dirk smile. Running into someone she knew but didn’t know too well was like finding Gold. She didn’t want to talk to or see one of her friends right now. She might look like all smiles but inside she was cracking. “True, so would you mind chewing on some garlic in front of me?” She questioned, not an ounce of seriousness in her voice. The facade she had put up the moment she heard his voice, wavered as soon as he asked if she was alright. “I-I.” a millions thoughts ran through her head, she had to take a breath to calm them. “No worse off really then a really bad quidditch game, what about you? are you okay? What are you still doing out here?”

He rolled his eyes, playfully, as if he were actually into this as much as he wanted to let on. “oh sod off Mcdonald. You know why.” That goofy half-smile formed again on his face. He knew that most found it endearing, attractive even. It made him seem like he had real feelings. “Well. I’m sure something will come up at a later date. Favors to be determined, for now.”
Light radiated out of the small girl with her snickers. Giving men a hard time was one of her favorite past-times and Rod was reacting perfectly. “That just makes me want to temp you more, because I know where it’s going.” her full lips twisting into a playful smirk, she had no control over. “Oh Merlin, I hate waiting. If you can’t think of single thing right now, at least think of something that will take my mind off of these favor I will owe you...”
tedtnkss
“Please” Ted retorted, with a playful snort. “If it wasn’t for me saving all those shots on goal our embarrassment would have been much worse, so from that stand point….i’m the real hero here, and I would have dodged that bludger myself, thank you very much. Ye of little faith” Attempting to laugh, although the pain in his ribs did not allow him to do so. Instead what left his lips was far closer to a whimper. He didn’t really like the idea of hanging around the corridors much more, even although he was almost certain that they were safe, he didn’t really fancy finding for sure. Especially with the state he was currently in. “Mary…. can you just….i might need to lean on you” Gaze falling to the floor as he spoke with certain defeat in his voice. “Thank you for going all MacDonald on me”
As competitive as Mary was she could never understand how anyone on her team could be embarrassed by the game they had played that night. Had the game really only been a few hours ago? It seemed like forever ago... “see it’s such sweet words like that that made me take a bludger for you, you fool.” She joked, rolling her vivid blue eyes until all you could see for a split moment was the white of her eyes. A sudden and uncharacteristic look of seriousness over took Mary’s usual care-free grin, as she noticed the pain in her friend’s face. She was moving closer to him before he even got all the words out. She gripped his hand, careful to avoid his hurt fingers, and wrapped his arm around her neck. She was about half a foot shorter then him at least and holding him against her was awkward.”Come on let’s get you somewhere safe. Keep that wand at the ready... just in case.” She said as she slid her other arm around his waist. This wasn’t the first time she had to help someone to the hospital wing. “You are welcome but please never say that again. It’s starting to sound dirty.” She said scrunching her up as she stared up at him, taking a few steps down the hallway with him at her side.

Eyes flying to the ground, it didn’t take him long until he spotted what hit him. Maybe she had lost her wand, but she sure knew how to make good use of what she could find. “Don’t worry about it.”Kenneth waved it off, glancing at the group of students behind him. Some seemed to be really frightened, he could understand why. Standing in the middle of a hall wasn’t the safest place to be at this time. He didn’t really ask for Mary’s permission, he just stepped in and let the students flood in the classroom. Not that they really left his side, mostly staying close to him. They were not going to stay long anyway, they had to reach the commons. And it made him wonder what she was going to do. “Did you… want to come with us? We’re going to the Ravenclaw tower, but we’d let you in. It’ll be safer there.”
A weak smile spread across her face. She felt thankful he didn’t seem to hold any resentments about being on the receiving end of one of her throws. Her brother Wyatt hadn’t reacted in quite the same way. “I’ll try not to, but when this is over you let me fix that bump on your head.” She said forcefully without meaning too. She just felt really bad for nothing thinking of a better way to protect herself. Jesus Christ only she would lose her wand in the midst of all this. Suddenly the classroom was full of young students, all of whom did not step more then a few feet away from Kenneth. She softened, not everyone would take this many young kids under their wings when something colossal was going down. “My other option is standing here, pretty much defenseless.” she pretended to think about it for a moment. there was nothing to really think about. “So... Lead the way...”
Mary had tried so hard to differentiate herself from her brothers and yet here she was, yelling at her younger brother just like they had done to her. she wasn’t made for this, she wasn’t made for being responsible or mature. she had put any ideas of her being that kind of girl in the dust when she dive bombed into the black lake from her broom in third year. “We wouldn’t even be having this conversation if not for the fact that vampires are attacking.” She groaned growing frustrated with going around in circles with this conversation. She was tired of trying to defend herself for not being in the hospital wing. Who knew if she would have even been safe in there? These Vampires sought her out, They would have found her in the hospital wing as well. “Jesus christ Joey,” She said using his full name. she never called him anything other then J until things were bad, and things were really bad. “I had my wand when I left the hospital wing, Fought off some vampires and lost it. Since then I’ve been making due without it.” Her hands were shaking as she ran a hand through her hair, utterly done with this conversation. She couldn’t admit that he might be the tinest bit right, not about being in the hospital wing, she was never going to stay in that place, but she was kind of useless at protecting herself at the moment. Really what good would throwing a cauldron at a vampire really do? The thing would just laugh in her face before it tried to eat her. “I’m glad you wont be having any brain damage from it, not sure you could with stand to have any more of that then you already have.” she attempted to joke, but it came out more hostile then she intended. She scoffed at his next words, and wondered if he had any idea about the last words she spoke to Micah. she could still remember her words ‘Go to hell’ echoing through the trees and this event was far more dire then just a normal trip to hogsmead, but she wasn’t ready to share that experience so she said nothing. Didn’t apologize for apologizing, she didn’t really have time. The door burst open again, she reached for something nearby, her fingers curling around some strange potion that sat on the table near her. not that it was needed. Joey had it all under control. the vampire that sauntered in was unceremoniously banished from the room with a flick from her brothers wand. She forgot about fighting with Joey the moment the vampire bust through the door. her eyes darted around the room looking for something wood. She spotted an old chair and quickly ran over to it. Normally, if she had her wand, she would just blast the thing apart. but if she had her wand she wouldn’t even need the thing to begin with. She picked it up, her hands gripping the leg of the chair tightly as she used all her force to smash the thing against the stone floor. It splintered in peices, a few shards flying up and embedding themselves in Mary’s arms and face. she hardly felt the pain. “I got it!” She shouted.

“No one would be surprised if they did.”
“Maybe not surprised, but I imagine quite a few girls would be disappointed.” she chuckled thinking about the hoards of girls she had seen fawn over James and Sirius the day before. “There would be riots in the halls if the two of them actually decided to be together like they should be.”
