Would she believe him if he said it was to protect her? To keep her safe from the storm that was coming? From his family? Would she allow it if he told her? Of course not. That was why he initially chose silence, why he chose to keep her in the dark and lock her up... But he couldn't keep silent forever, not when she was staring daggers at him. His own gaze wavers and he closes away for a bit before taking impulse to answer... vaguely.

"It's for your own good. Trust me at least in that." It was too much to ask for when he was acting like this, but he couldn't do anything about that. His eyes go to her through the bars and he seems just a little less stiff, a little more exhausted, and slightly worried.

"Just... stay there and wait patiently. It'll be over before you know it if you just let me work things out."

❛ i feel like they're watching me. ❜ — Hannah (@dollhidden) to Emma! ~ "Who, Hannah?" Emma asks so quickly she almost catches herself off-guard, as well. She had been lazily lying down on the bed before she heard Hannah speak with such concern, maybe even fear, in her voice. Sitting down on the bed, she leans over to her, worry making itself present in her expression. "You mean the others? Or... something else?"

A pause comes, a quiet breath as she places a hand over her best friend's shoulder. "Hey, you can talk to me about anything when the cameras are off... You know that, right?"

"What!? Why?" She refutes but soon, she pouts. "I promise I am listening. I was just checking a notification real quick..."

Yeah, Emma herself would not deny that she had a problem. Her phone was her lifeline, after all. Though, actually, it was more like a double edge-edged sword she couldn't stop holding onto. But, the time she spent with Abi was special, so of course she didn't want to use the phone all the time when with her. She'd hand it over, but...

"You're not gonna confiscate it, right? I'll give it to you only if you are not taking it away from me."

He has his hands wrapped up and is struggling not to seem as angered as he feels. Dare he even reveal just how worried he is, despite being able to see that the girl is doing alright?

"I'll repeat myself and you better answer truthfully." Slowly, he repeats the initial question. "What were you doing out in the woods this late at night, hm?"

Was it that noticeable? He had been struggling to keep himself from replying to her. Things were just getting too dangerous, too out of hand for him to say anything other than telling her to go as he initially did. Yet, she insisted on protesting and he didn't want to deal with it. Ignoring her wasn't working; she had noticed and she had decided not to listen.

Finally, he turned to her, concern written across otherwise distant eyes. He stares at her for a bit, wondering what he should do to get her to listen and leave. His lips purse as he bites the lower one slightly. He swears under his breath.

"Why do you want to stay? I told you to leave, just listen to me and do so. We can talk later. Another day."

Well, he had asked himself why they had been pushed to force the kids to, once again, get interviewed. Of course, effects like those wouldn't be out of the question. Nightmares, stress, and other horrible things. Damn, just thinking about it made him feel slightly sick. Despite that, he was here, tending to one of the survivors yet again, listening.

"Nightmares," he starts, allowing his thoughts to linger in the word. "About that night? Can you share what you experience in those nightmares?"

She lets out a loud, long, and exaggerated hum as she seems to ponder over the question as intensely as possible. This was definitely unexpected, but she would indulge Sam in any question she threw at her, regardless of how strange. So, she thinks on and on for a whole minute. Afterwards, her hand is raised with the index finger pointed up.

"Well, I'd definitely find all the greens you could eat and gather them around you. Then, I'd keep you in a little home of your own in my room, where I'd tire you out with talks of acting and internet influencing and modeling." She giggles just thinking about it before her eyes light up a little more.

"Oh! And I'd find a way to make you sweaters and beanies... and somehow put them on you. You have to look as fabulous as you do right now or else you're not Sam, regardless of what... creature you transform into."
