i love the kotlc fandom on here so so so so so much. perfect size, i love seeing recurring names and i love how some people are known for chronic characterposting. yes i have seen a couple sour takes or perspectives, but i feel like 90% of this fandom just behaves like normal cool people? and i think that’s awesome. also checked out instagram comments for the first time and can i just say they are every bit as vile as y’all have been saying. loving the respect for shannon on tumblr 😭 tldr the tumblr keeper fandom is full of amazing people who do amazing work and being part of it rekindles my love for kotlc and passion for art 🫶🫶🫶

oh my goodness golly gee i loved it so much i don’t think i can be normal for the next few days
about it being a loyal adaptation, idk how accurate my take is since i tend to hold book+movie as separate spheres in my head lol. nevertheless i thought the movie did an amazinf job,, waugh,,, obviously the book goes wayy more in depth into all the science parts, its very technical (at least i think it is. i am not a scientist) and as a result i think events in the book are much more clearly explained than in the movie, you understand exactly why xyz happened/where it went wrong. if you like science i highly recommnd reading the book its really fun and interesting!
i thought the humor was also super on par with how the book sounds lol
i will say the book had a lot more detail about grace’s life on the aircraft carrier pre-phm launch, more about the other characters which i really enjoyed. i totally get that its hard to put in all this detail without the movie being 6 hours long tho!!! i just love side characters a lot a lot a lot
the story was absolutely faithful, which i was very glad of. it follows basically the exact same plot of the book give or take a few scenes that made sense to add/subtract given the durationof the film

i loved how stratt was portrayed so much oh my god i would do anything for her
rocky is my everything
the soundtrack was absolutely heavenly im a huge sucker for emotional immersive soundtrack (haha hello httyd 2010) and it was so beautiful, i also loved how so much of it was vocals. maybe im biased because i sing in a choir but man it was just so auuuuguuguguugh. like even though grace is alone with no other humans theres humans singing in the soundtrack. the presence of humanity is there
it was just such a visually stunning movie so so so so so pretty all the space scenes had me on my knees perishing
i think grace isway more aroace coded in the film than in the book and you best believe i was eating ts up i hit all my favorite characters with the arospec beam

obviously bidstella never interact in canon but in my head it’s beautiful and tragic #trust like the concept of biddy telling estella not to go through with her marriage bc it will only make her miserable parallelling herbert telling pip that estella isn’t good for him… and then bidstella becomes more doomed in the sense that estella still leaves town n marries drummle whereas pip lives with herbert. the concept of biddy watching her childhood friend and the girl she loves seek out lives that hurt them. trying even as they don’t listen to her. and she watches them go because she knows its their life
developing a hyperfixation after months of being uninspired is like being injected with 10,000 syringes of insanity juice that do physical damage to my brain. and i enjoy it the whole time
