cherry-cream cheese “dump cake”, par my mom’s request 

you can tell what i like to make vs. what she likes me to make: i like really flavorful stuff (anything with spices like spice cakes, ginger snaps, those curried naans from a few weeks back; anything with berries or nuts or those “paired” flavors like the chocolate-cherry biscotti), stuff that’s unusual (the babkas, anything jewish or british); i also love bread making, getting my hands into the dough and that yeast-y smell. whereas she likes “classic” stuff: german chocolate cake, or anything with coconut (i plan on making her a devil’s food cake for her birthday) and cherries, and anything made in a pinch like this!

I tried making these scones. They make an absolutely decadent dessert - and breakfast - and I am craving more even though I don't need more food for hours. Next time, though, I'm going to halve the sugar and add more lemon juice to the milk. The honey & chocolate meant it was already sweet enough - I may just leave the sugar out.
