My hot take on how structure should be judged: the dogs should be utterly drenched in water, so soaked your looking at a drowned rat in a flat collar so there is absolutely nothing left to the imagination about what angles are hidden under all that floof. Coat can be judged the next day; also all the towel companies can Jokey to see which brand of towel has the best performance of water absorbed from fluffy dog coats: fastest dried dog wins.

I agree haha! I think we need to change a lot about the way we go about conformation evaluations to make it truly what it is supposed to be, a structural and quality evaluation.

One of Fae’s relatives lives with beaucerons and does IGP with them. I don’t think the owner is serious about competing with their chi BUT also it’s really fun to watch a dog smaller than the bite sleeve go for it like they’re the biggest dog on the field.

What is the gps collar you use? We plan on doing some camping and I can’t seem to decide on one.

It’s the NutTag SEEK GPS - an Australian brand that is technically made to keep track of vulnerable people e.g. people with alzheimers or autism with a tendency to get lost.  It’s a bit more expensive than your standard Dog GPS collar but not as expensive as garmin.

Please note the “SEEK” GPS is what you want - they sell other GPS devices too. SEEK is the human and pet tracking one.

Although it can be used internationally - I am not sure the specifics. They have an office in the USA, Australia and China. They’re super responsive (e.g. I got a call back to troubleshoot a setting issue mid-hike) so send them an email.

The battery life can last up to 3 weeks and it’s not constrained by proximity to you. It is constrained by 3G cellular coverage.

It’s pretty light and charges fast (USB charger) - so is small dog friendly. Mildly water resistant but not water-proof.

The accuracy can jump around a bit but it’s usually within 5 meters of where your dog is.

It has an SOS function and a two-way call function.

You can share the tracker with other people e.g. if multiple people are helping you narrow down your dog.

The only con I’ve had with it - the GPS dog collar attachment it came with isn’t durable (clearly made with people in mind, not dogs). If you get one I recommend tracking down a leatherworker or fashioning your own case for it.

XD and lots of elbow grease? I recently tanned a skin and the oiling portion and stretching portion didn’t make it turn out nice. I was curious if you did any stretching and piling before sanding. The rittles kinda made the tissue adhere to itself

there’s a lot that goes into tanning and there are a lot of places where a hide can go wrong and turn out stiff.  that’s what i mean by ‘skill and practice.’  i literally just follow the instructions that was sent with my kit, but i have my own ways of doing things and timing my processes that make them turn out the way they do, and those things are gonna vary person to person because you don’t live in the exact climate and have the exact indoor conditions i do.   make sure you flesh everything, i recommend degreasing before tanning even if it doesn’t seem fatty, and don’t let your pelts dry too fast after oiling.  other than it’s just....figuring out what works right for you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did the over sized kits come from the male being too big? I’m new to buns.

i’ve heard of that being a thing that happens, but no, this case wasn’t because the buck was too big.  rabbits are supposed to kindle on day 31 of pregnancy and she waited until day 33, which meant the kits had grown too big inside of her.  nothing to do with the buck.

Regarding that female soldier recruiting post. I work as a member of the forces. All the women who have seen this are deeply disgusted by it, the decision is being made by a bunch of outdated high ranking men who are so out of touch. The only women who wear skirts or “fancy” clothes are office jobs like recruiting centres, or hubs like Ottawa. CFB petawawa, Borden, Edmonton ect everyone wears combats, you don’t wear medals unless it’s on parade in DEUs and they are NOT bling...
