goddamn it quin!! you seem to have had the craziest and coolest life—defo how I see myself in 20yrs :’)
xD I don't know that it was the coolest life, but it was certainly crazy.
I had a lot of dates, I had a lot of partners. I wasn't entertaining a new guest in my bed every night, granted, but I was not often in a cold bed either.
I only had one one-night-stand, but sometimes you learn Very Important Details about someone the morning after ^^; (this is not to imply that there's anything bad about one-night-stands, I just mean I tended to hookup with my hookups more than once).
Chapter 12 of Quicksand, the reader goes on to list some of the bad dates they've had. Aside from the restaurant catching on fire, all those dates are dates I, personally, had:
"All things considered," you admit after letting the dessert just melt in your mouth. "This is the best date I've ever been on." "I find that statement concerns me, more than comforts me, Miss (y/n)." Crocodile admits. You smile, and there's maybe an edge to it. "Well, I wasn't bitten, the restaurant didn't catch on fire, there wasn't a rat trying to crawl up my leg, and you didn't spend the entire day talking about exceptionally detailed trivia concerning customized computer cooling systems, including, but not limited to, ones that utilized liquid nitrogen, with such fervor as to wonder why I had gone mute after two hours." You're finding an odd delight at the strained look on Crocodile's face. He's trying to remain neutral, but you can see something cracking at the edges of his expression. "... What bit you?" He asks after a moment's pause. "My date." You answer evenly. "I had to get stitches. It wasn't even the worst date I've had."
Despite the rat and being bit, the Computer Guy sticks in my head the most, even like 20 years later. He did not stop talking. We went to a decent place for dinner and saw Jet Li in the The One if I remember right. He did stop talking during the movie.
I think it sticks in my mind cause it was a rare date where I let someone pick me up and drive me around. Usually I was the only one with a car, but more than that I realized that having a way to LEAVE was just as important as the safety of it, honestly.
Fun Quin Fact: I have been randomly and unexpectedly bitten by Four Different People, and two of the bites required medical attention.
Something something four nickels, but still. 😩
