Genuinely fascinating to me how the Quincy arc managed to retroactively make Ishida one of the most interesting characters in a massive cast of interesting characters. We gotta talk about that more.

I told myself I wasn't gonna finish this... but then I found out the BLEACH anime is returning for the Quincy Arc in 2021 and I could no longer let this rot in my WIPS folder... ~~ Remember... when BLEACH's filler arc team thought introducing literal vampires into the BLEACH series would be a good idea? Introducing witches into the BLEACH franchise is gonna have the exact same impact, and it'll be anything but good asalkjflkdjflkj While the anime has changed or introduced different aspects into the story, it's questionable whether they were always for the better or even really added much to the story. So I have very low hopes of the anime actually fixing certain parts of the arc that required more thought put into them. But I will kiss the ground Zangetsu walks on. I'll watch the anime, and I'm watching for my Zangetsu boys only!! Just make Kazui a bitter, angsty demon child and I will happily keep my mouth shut and fawn over him day and night I promise

I decided to redraw Ichigo’s final Tensa Zangetsu form in a-(somewhat of a)-full body form. I made sure to take my time with doing the designs this time around!

I’ve been looking at the Tensa Zangetsu from the Quincy arc and started wondering to myself, “Okay so his new Bankai is a huge sword with a black chain as opposed to his usual compressed Tensa Zangetsu! it MIGHT have more power but that MAY be just about it” but then I am thinking “WAAAIT...maybe the chain bound to the sword...is a SEAL that suppresses the TRUE form of his new Bankai!”

So if the chain was to snap off the blade! it would shatter the outer shell of the sword in a huge BURST of black and purple spirit energy! and there for!

becoming the Tensa Zangetsu that is now seen!......

THAT WOULDA BEEN PERFECT!!! QAQ

Viva La Vida

Yhwach, the original quincy, is very VERY much like that of a hollow. As a poor child he was hollow himself. He had no senses. All he could do was project his soul into others, and steal their souls / power for himself. He has to keep feasting, people have to keep dying in order to sustain him, otherwise he will become a senseless vegetable again.

Interestingly enough, Yhwach is also very much alike Aizen and Urahara's Hougyoku. He is a being made up of thousands of souls. He reaches in and grants your wish, grants you power, but he can also steal that power back. 

Now that he and hollow Tensa have become the Soul King’s right hands, there’s no more need for soul consumption. All that is left....is to save their king from his crystal prison.

One thing that really annoyed me about this arc is that Orihime and Chad never got their own individual fights. The power ups that were indicated in the fullbring arc were never showcased.

Instead, in the middle of this arc we got a whole bunch of fights which had no emotional value. None. Who can remember the names of half the Sternritter or even understood or cared about their back story?

To top it off, we had the same characters have multiple boring ‘rekt’ focus fights. Kenpachi managed to get at least three yet the Karakura team barely had four between them.

So so frustrating.
