Somehow this turned out a Bit longer than I thought (almost 6k), but I guess that's on par for the course with me by now. God, we're so close to 500k... (Still not sure whether it'll be 74 or 75, but we'll see that soon enough, I'm sure.)

Sometimes I remember that the winter spirits in-game are literally only mentioned a) in one of the area flavour texts about the southern iron gate I think and b) in the intro quest to goldenhills but it isn't even That relevant cause it has nothing to do with the gate being locked, as Mr Klaus was just suffering from "early-2010s-SSO-man-itis" and isn't. like. actually even slightly relevant to the lore at all

I love being an author instead of a parent because nobody will look at you weirdly for hating certain chapters more than others everyone will just go yeah that's how it be innit and move on with their lives because you have to be petty and spiteful to survive in this bitch of a world that is authorship and that's just how it is

I love writing a lore heavy longfic you'll be thinking about a future chapter like "I INVENTED COOL LORE" only to stop yourself and go "Wait have I." go run to your fics, look at probably at least 3 different chapters just to make sure none of the new ideas contradict existing text, and then, and ONLY then, can you officially go "HAHA NEW LORE IDEA"

Still think one of the realest things I've ever done while redesigning the soul riders was to make sure all of them had gloves because I do not care what anyone says, if you design a person who rides horses Without gloves, you haven't ridden a horse yourself bro (like. reins. hurt. WITH gloves it still hurts sometimes if you're riding stronger horses.)

Also for those who haven't seen the Unto Daylight interpretation of the main girlies (and Deia cause obviously) here's the art I got my girlfriend to make for me because I can't draw <3

Also speaking of milestones, I'm 2 or 3 chapters away from hitting half a million words on QuintSum, and with suggestions from my friends (this particular one was @horseslur's doing) I will celebrate it by doing a QuintSum/horsefic iceberg/Manda explains the sillies (informal qna??), so if there's anything in particular ur wondering about in terms of my fic (both in terms of the writing process and the actual fic itself) feel free to respond to this post (sending me an ask is fine too but I don't have anons on if that's something you're worried about) and I'll include it in the post when I make it

(with the disclaimer that I will not answer questions that actively pertain to something I'm foreshadowing and/or haven't written about yet.
