“ w- well, i- i- i’m... i’m sorry, for... for giving you a fright...” his voice shakes almost as much as his body, eyes not once moving from his feet, fear having almost consumed him whole at this point. he should’ve known better than to leave camp. he should’ve known... known that they’d find him again, that they’d make him suffer for betraying them. and suffer, he had. the bruises and blood on his face was nothing compared to the damage done to the rest of his body, hidden from sight underneath his clothes, yet the pain still evident on his face and how TENSE his body was, as if trying to shield himself from receiving any more torture, still having trouble believing that he had actually gotten away from it, that he was SAFE now...
he would’ve called out to her to give her a warning that he was back. it’s not like he had wanted to sneak up on her like he had. but when he had tried calling out, he’d found that he’d already used up most of his voice. || @quitecontrary ||
