Quynt - Infiltration
So I have been pushing myself to write much more, and I got this to come out. This is a writing gift for @wedgemccloud because I wanna see more of Quynt. I think she’s an amazing character. I hope I did her justice here ;; This is my first time writing something NOT cutesy, so I’m really proud.
1786 words.
“Cover the rear you swine,” grunted an orc commander, his skin being a dark violet. He was one of Guldan’s newly changed orcs, corrupted by Archimonde’s blood. His various tattoos glowed bright green, horns protruding out from his shoulders.. The other orc, a soldier looking almost identical, sighed, saluting the commander.
“I want this night to go smoothly, no more incidents. Understood?” The commander said.
“Yes sir,” said the soldier, standing at attention until he left. Once the commander was out of sight, the soldier’s shoulders slumpt, a deep sigh coming out of him. He paced around slowly, careful to keep an eye out for anything unusual. What he didn’t know, was that he wasn’t alone tonight.
Up in the trees, a spy was watching everything. The night elf smirked, touching a button on her special goggles. Through her vision, she was zooming in, scanning the surrounding area. Her mission was simple: find as many plans as she could for the fel machines and take them back to base. If she was lucky, she could pick up a few pieces without getting herself tainted by the fel energy. Her idea was to maybe try to figure out what she could do with the machinery…find a way to fight back with the use of another energy source. It was a shame to see such big machines shattered.
The elf kept clicking at her goggles, examining what she could see more. As she did, she prepped herself for her entrance. Tying her white hair back in the small ponytail, pulling back her gloves, and last but not least, prepping her rifle.
“I have a little surprise for you, Mr. Guard,” she said. Quynt was ready for action.
Removing her goggles and placing them on her head, she loaded the rifle with a particular kind of shot: a tranq dart. It would put this guard to sleep, allowing her easy access into the area. The rest of the guards were in other spots, patrolling as usual. She had already made sure she was prepared for more targets, her compacts in her pockets were filled with a powder that would put any huge orc to sleep.
Taking a peek down, the engineer spotted her faithful companion, Koro. The wolf was a silvery color, some brown appeared on him. He sat quietly, keeping himself stealthed in the bushes below the tree. He was a smart one, having learned from his master over the years.
The elf got her rifle in position, peeking out of the scope, aiming it at the guard. With as much patience as she could muster, she waited just a bit longer….a little longer.
The guard yawned, turning around as he peeked behind himself. He was very certain nobody would be coming anytime soon.
“Gotcha,” she whispered to herself, pulling the trigger. The dart flew, hitting the orc’s backside perfectly. “AAAH, INTRU–” the orc started to shout, before he froze and fell over, passing out immediately. He was going to be out cold for a while.
Quynt chuckled lightly to herself, slipping out of the tree quickly and quietly. Koro stood where he was, waiting for the queue to follow her. Once her feet hit the ground, she adjusted her gun and gestured to her partner, the wolf slowly coming out.
“Good boy, now keep quiet. We don’t want to get caught,” she said, continuing ahead. The hunter and the pet headed towards the encampment, hiding between what they could to keep out of sight. So far, so good, she told herself each time nobody appeared.
As she got closer to the tables, she looked around, a little shocked. Where were the guards? Did they all pass out? It was a possibly was all she thought. After all, it was very late. Maybe they were not used to such attacks. Who knew at this point.
With as much as she could, she walked, taking a peek at the table. To her surprise, there were many different reference sheets and plans all laid out. It was messily arranged, not organized at all, all kinds of disgusting things scattering the table. It included axes, blood, fel material, and ink.
“So disgusting…” she said, squinting her eyes, putting on her goggles. Pressing a button, a small light came on, allowing her to read the contents more. She pulled at her gloves once more, making sure they were on securely, not wanting to touch the fel energy. Koro stood behind his master, keeping guard as he could.
“Despite it being so gross, this is very fascinating,” she said to herself, picking up various papers. All of the plans for the fel reavers were there, all written in a language she couldn’t understand. That didn’t matter, she could find some way to work out the notes. A grin formed as she grabbed some of the clean sheets, studying them quickly. She slipped out a small satchel, slipping the papers into it. As she looked around more, she found a piece of material covered up by the various plans.
“Oh! This is perfect.” She thought. “Maybe this will give me some more answers about the material…” she wrapped it up in a cloth and dropped it into her bag.
As she scanned the material more, a low growl was heard. Koro, stood perfectly still, his ears perked up.
“What is it boy?” Quynt asked, turning around, grabbing for her rifle. She got it into her arms, loading it up with ammunition. Her goggles were moved up, giving her better vision. The two of them stood still, waiting for anything to appear.
The elf felt her heart pounding, knowing that something, or someone, was there with them. As quietly as she could, she turned around, studying the area. Nobody was there….where were they?
“What do we have here!? A night elf!?” a voice was heard behind her. She gasped, holding the gun up. It was another orc soldier, a female this time. She held up her axe, jumping down from the barricade where she stood.
Quynt kept herself silent, her face showing disgust.
“What were you doing here? Trying to steal our plans!? You won’t get very far!” Shouted the orc, charging towards her swinging the axe.
Koro barked, charging for her. Quynt quickly raised her gun and shot at the warrior, knocking her back.
“Come on boy, studying is over!” she said, grabbing her satchel and running towards the barricade. Koro followed behind, running with her.
“Intruder! INTRUDER!” shouted the orc, coughing. She fell over, blood dripping out of her.
Quynt kept up with her speed, pulling out a grappling hook. She could hear more soldiers coming from behind her. Quickly throwing up the end, it hooked onto another barricade. Pressing a button, she flew up, landing on top of it. Koro barked.
“Go around boy! Don’t get seen!” she said, gesturing to him.
The wolf listened, running around. Before the wolf could reach for safety, several more orcs appeared, charging for him. Quynt quickly loaded her gun with a few more tranq darts and a compact, shooting the rifle. It landed perfectly onto the guards, all of them slumping over. The compact flew towards the back, landing on the ground and opening, a powder substance coming out. Several more orcs fell over, passed out.
Koro safely made his way around the giant wall, hiding in the nearby bushes. He waited for Quynt to jump down. When he hid away, a few guards ran past him, not knowing he was there.
“Get ‘em boy!” she shouted.
The wolf barked loudly, jumping onto the back of one of them. The guard screamed, flailing around before the wolf bit his head, knocking him out.
Quynt jumped down, using a small parachute to make sure she landed safely.
“Let’s go boy,” she said, starting to run towards the forest, where she could hide and slip back into Lion’s Watch. As they ran, she threw more of the compacts behind her, then activating with the same powder, knocking out whatever guards were chasing them.
“We’re almost there!” she said, Koro right behind her.
“You’re not going anywhere!” shouted the commander, screaming. His axe was swinging hard in the air, a wolf in armor right behind him.
“Koro, spread out!” she said, turning around and shooting with her rifle. She carelessly didn’t aim right away, it ricocheting off of the commander’s weapon.
“Damnit!” she cursed, loading the gun up as she started to run backwards. The commander chuckled loudly, charging for her. Just as she had loaded her gun, she was pushed over by him. His hand held over her neck, almost trying to choke her. She struggled, her hands trying to push off his.
“Now I got you, you little pest. This “Alliance” will soon learn to not meddle with Guldan’s army!” he shouted, raising his axe.
Quynt felt her breath being lost more, as though she was going to pass out any moment…until–
“GAAH!” the commander shouted, falling over. His grasp was released as he tumbled over, Koro having charged at him and knocking him over. Quynt coughed, trying to catch her breath quickly. She picked up her rifle, shooting at the commander.
Koro bit him, trying to maul at him. “No! I will not go out like this!” he shouted, whistling. The armored wolf charged, knocking back Koro.
“KORO!” Quynt shouted, her face growing with anger. She shot at the commander’s head, making him fall back. He was knocked out cold, blood splattering right away.
The two wolves began to fight more, falling into the bushes nearby. A cry was heard, a loud howling pitch. Then…it was silent.
She took a few breathes, trying to regain what just happened.
“Koro?…KORO!” she shouted, running towards the bushes. Her worst fears were coming to her, she was so scared…what if her long time friend was finally gone? She couldn’t bare the thought at all. She quickly pulled back at the bushes, trying to reach towards where they could have ended up. As she finally came up to them, she blinked.
Koro stood up, covered in blood. The armored wolf, was slumped over, blood underneath him. The lone survivor of the fight saw his master, running up to her.
Quynt sighed, petting the wolf’s ears. “Don’t scare me like that boy. I don’t know what I would do if I lost you.” she said.
Koro barked, rubbing his snout against her leg. She chuckled lightly, slinging her rifle behind her. The two began to head back to Lion’s Watch, Quynt eager to tell of her victory. It would be a potential change for the Alliance if they could figure out these plans.

One day at a time
I wouldn’t say it was easy, and I didn’t say it either. I knew it was going to be bumpy down the road, and I still decided to take it. I’m not one to take the easy way around, no matter the path ahead. Maybe that’s what will end me, one of these days. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be fast, but i knew it was worth it. I hadn’t seen such a disappointment when I came over the rise, I also knew that it was basically a route. The Legion was still crashing against alliance and horde forces here, I had to be careful to make sure I wasn’t seen. I had traded in my full plate armors for the more forgiving and easier to maneuver chain and scale mail after a long fight a month prior. I was able to keep my noise level lower but I wasn’t some leather wearing sneak either.
I took a deep breath when I saw what was going on over the ridge. A pair of Fel Guards were taking alternating swings at a pair of alliance guards from a nearby garrison within the hills of Stormheim. I watched as one was just rooted into the ground by the overhead slam of the side of the demons ax, while the second seemed to be sent flying by a manor of non magical means into the side of a cliff.
I winced slightly when he slammed, and again when he hit the ground in a heap of metal and gore. He wasn’t getting back up. I knew this was the time to act. I had been waiting for the signal from the other side of the hills, we had the small detachment surrounded this time. I looked up, towards the west, near a outcropping of pine trees just in time to see the quick shine of a white light.
It was time, I sprang up and took off down the hill and screamed. I barreled down on the Fel Guards, with my spiked shield raised. I braced myself into it letting my feet free from the ground as I flew into the side of one of the demons torso’s. I could hear it scream out with a deep roar, as the spikes entered the demonic flesh, only to have it silenced with a single gun shot to the head...right between the eyes. “I’ll have to remember the distance, that’s not something I ever want to be on the receiving end of” I thought aloud as the other few demons looked in my direction.
I rolled free from the corpse as I stood up, cracking my neck. I pulled my sword free from my hip and charged directly into the middle of the small pack, who was still reeling from my entrance. I could hear running from behind me, the skittering of a pair of animals. A large green beetle that seemed to emit electricity from its antennae and an effortlessly floating nether ray that seemed to latch it’s self to the head of a demon that had some how gotten behind me.
it wrapped its strange tail like appendages around the neck of the demon, suffocating it, slowly while the beetle seemed to crash into its legs causing it to buckle and fall to the ground. I chuckled and turned my attention back to the small mob of demons with a wave of my sword. I whispered my thanks to the hunter behind me in the trees. i knew I owed her one for later.
As my attention was turned back to the demons I heard another sound, soft at first followed by the scent of Lavender and Melon. I knew that scent, I loved that scent. It filled my nostrils as I charged forward. The warmth that surrounded me seemed to energize my limbs as I ran my sword into the arm of a doom lord. It wheeled backwards trying to swat. It managed to take my sword with it as I flew backwards. The pain that lanced my head and shoulder was replaced with the soothing warmth I knew so well.
It was almost like she was touching me, even when I knew she wasn’t close. I smiled and rolled my shoulder. “Thanks Miss Yuu” I smirked and braced back into my shield as the doom lord swung its claws across it. I knew I wasn’t helpless and it would be easy enough to get my weapon back, it was only a matter of time.
I twisted my torso to avoid the swinging monstrosities limbs, as the wiz of demon arm passed by, I pushed forward and slammed my shield into its back. I stepped into the attack and the foul smelling creature turned it’s head up to look at me. I smirked as I snatched my sword from the beasts arm which only caused it to growl and flail. “Your world will BURN, you have NO HOPE” it glowered. The yellow monstrosity went to open its mouth to say something else when a cry from above rung out.
In a blur, pink and swift, the demon seemed confused. I shifted my weight just enough to slide the upturned spikes out from the demons back side in time to see the demons head turn almost a full 180 degrees with a sickening crack of demonic bone. “HA!” the voice cried out “Take THAT!” it spoke again. “The Fearless Pinxie does it again!” The small gnomes hair was all that I could see as the now limp body before me slumped to the ground.
I turned as she climbed atop the body, only to hear her make a rather cute sound. She hopped a few steps closer and touched the back of my head. “Your still bleeding!” She weaved her hands and arms in fluid motions as a soft mist formed. Pressing it to my skull, It felt as if she was washing my hair, but when she pulled away, I had clarity. The hissing pain had subsided from my earlier bump.
The loud clopping of hooves was the last thing I heard. Then it was the shouting and the ringing true of steel to flesh. “FOR JUSTICE! Foul Demons, take your leave of this world” The mans voice shouted, as it resonated within the last pair of demons standing. The first seemed to shocked to move, only to see its head liberated from its torso. The second fell to its knees for only a moment then seemed to simply burst into holy fire and flames.
“Makers Jormund, can you be any MORE dramatic?” I chuckled. The day was closing, and the small detachment of legion forces was dead. I winced a bit as she shook his head and said “Of course I can!” he shouted, striking a valiant pose.
I could hear the rest of the team walking closer and I knew things were going to be alright for now, but there would be another detachment, or some issue or another something as long as that portal over the sky’s remained open. I looked up, the others gathering around, making plans for the next area to head to on the isles. I could hear Quynt talking about our next steps, while Pinxie and Jormund seemed to mimic and make jokes about her ideas. I watched the graceful Yuu’leth giggle at their jokes.
I realized something at that moment. This was where I was meant to be father, I finally found that thing you told me about when you told me all those years ago. In all your days, Treat them ever alike, For when you are the anvil, bear For when you are the hammer.... Strike!

Quynt let out an overdrawn sigh, not hiding a single bit of her annoyance at herself as she paused in the doorway on her way outside. She was doing it again. Tightening her grip on the bags in each hand, she felt their weight as she held more parts and tools. She was working outside again.
It shouldn't have bothered her. She loved working outside when she had the chance and her current base of operations in Loch Modan was perfect. The location was a bit humid, but the mountain breeze coming down from the east from Dun Morogh made it all worth it. But the nice weather and cool mountain air was not why she was moving yet another project outside.
Pushing her heel off from the threshold, she stomped out to one of the makeshift tables she had set up. They had already been cleared of last night's failed experiment and she was ready to work on something new. Quickly dropping the bags, she leaned over the table and let out a breath slowly as her eyes fell shut.

Another twist of the wrench locked the part in place. The succinct click gave her a smile. There was just something celebratory about it, like an announcement that pulled forth a cheer from a crowd, and the adrenaline felt before the start of a race. A tiny light blinked on, red on sunset orange, and she knew -- it was ready.
Quynt scrambled to her feet. Her straw sandals popped against her heels as her feet slapped the concrete between the pipe system she'd just set up and the Big Switch across the room. She had a beautiful engine that spanned the height of her workshop from the floor to the ceiling, its surface covered in dials, switches, wires and cable bundles, and space for this magical thing that she was still working on -- a light-up, scrolling display screen. She'd been studying what she could find of Titan technology with hopes of duplicating anything and everything to make it work. If only she could use something like...liquid arcane crystal, or maybe draenethyst...
She rubbed her hands together. She could dream later. For now, it was time to power up the machine.
Oil-smudged hands took a moment to prepare, and hopefully clean some of the gunk off before the big moment. The red rag was tossed aside, her excitement too great to spend much more time on it. She grabbed the lever with both hands, mumbled a prayer to the machinery gods for good luck, and flipped the switch.
Hello there, just passing by and noticed your interest in WoW / Writing. Any thoughts on your character within Legion? That is if you Rp / develop OC information.
Despite my main being a night elf, Quynt (my hunter main) doesn’t have quite as much to do in Legion as most, I’d suspect.
As a bit of an oddball among elves, she’s more concerned with events on the same level as everyone else - what with it threatening the entire world and all - than having any particular stake in the events surrounding, say, Shaladrassil. The events leading her to the Broken Shore are mostly professional, likely returning to her post as mechanic for the Alliance during the assault on the Shore itself, probably on one of the airships.
The most interesting piece for me to work off of (and the source of my specialization-based angst as I have always mained Marksmanship) is the Beast Mastery artifact weapon.
Quynt is an engineer. Almost everything she does is driven by her thirst for knowledge and focused on learning everything she can. She has taken to adventuring to see and learn whatever she can and, naturally, in her adventures one thing has always caught her attention the most: The technology left behind by the Titans.
It’s essentially the pinnacle of technology and she, like most engineers, does everything she can to understand how even some of it works. And she’ll get to have a piece of it (at least, game-wise).
I’m not sure entirely what I want to do with that, as I like to put my own spin on things instead of just retell the player storyline, and I think there’s some potential in the idea that there seems to be more going on still back in Ulduar.
So I’d like to use that as a starting point to do some writing during Legion, since my writing has been spotty to say the least. (I badly need to get some content on her character blog.) I would like to write some sort of story through the expansion using whatever catches my eye in it and whatever I can spin from that artifact.
As to what, that’s gonna be something I figure out around when the expansion’s actually out. In the meantime, I’m mostly just sticking to some of my original stories (including the one Quynt is actually from) and some side stuff, since I don’t RP.
Thanks for the question, anon!
