Sailor/Robin
11/30I should? probably be logging the results of this experiment? Lmao it feels really weird calling it that. Like mad scientist territory or those weird guys modding magnets into their fingertipsWould also pay to keep track of how much I told the interns and the lab manager
ANyway uuuuuh
where to start well I just woke up there's that I guessThe cleaning staff really don't bother going into locked offices, which is great because APPARENTLY I've been passed out on the floor for three whole days? I swear this was one of my pipe dreams as an undergrad
huh
i mean
that sounds legit but now I'm not sure? I mean I checked the school records and best as i could tell nobody died here recently so interference is unlikely but what ifholy fuck that would suck if I finally proved anima arcanics because my soul returned from beyond my meat chassis with memories of the dead from arcanic contamination
So nbd but I might have errant bits of dead people up in my psyche, get that checked out, so what else
I feel physically fine, blood is pumping, neurons are firing, some muscle aches but I think that's the sleeping on the floor, it's probably not normal that I can hear my are those my kidneysnook well I can tell where my kidneys are that is definitely not normal
---
Robin Pearson 1.0 Release Notes
Adrenal glands still where they belong, above kidneys
Hunger no longer detected
further testing necessary to see if starvation kicks in
Physiological functions now have manual override function
(do not stress test this feature)
Now enrolled in distance-learning course for 1st year med school
You can't google every hormone in your body on the go so this is for your own good
Undergrads still intimidated in a manner consistent with professor and not walking corpse (sample size: 2)
Lab Manager Brent’s unrequited crush on me still a thing
Still requires peripherals to see ghosts+arcanic energy
(good, not the aim of this project)
Still doesn't know jack about computers or how release notes are formatted
OCmeme: 24, 27, 42, 49
24: If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?
Robin is probably my Most Normal character who isn’t composed of personal qualities about myself which I lowkey despise, so she gets my vote.
27: Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?
Countess’ spirit animal is Ke$ha. Tik Tok is almost a little too on the nose as a theme song for her so chuck some Portal 2 soundtrack in there why not
42: Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods?
A lot of my characters would find gods being petty assholes to be #relatable, though most have quite enough shit on their plate that stories about a far-flung gang of them isn’t actually that interesting, compared to information about the actual petty omnipotent assholes up in their grills.
However, Lucian Rhodes Amaryll, being the high space equivalent of the Renaissance polymath, is definitely well-schooled on this stuff. Lord Avery, with the whole flair for the dramatic, is also a sucker for this shit
49: Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes
Robin is all about deliberately referencing shit that people listening might not get. If she were around right now she would feel personally attacked by the “me, an intellectual” memes
I don’t talk about ‘em much but among the Lifehackers, Mickey and “Mongosling” and “Tallahassee” are the biggest memers, though their taste in memes has very little overlap
robin! (or jetsam if someone's already requested her)
Full Name: Robin Isabel PearsonGender and Sexuality: Non-practicing bisexual, femmeEthnicity/Species: I’ve never felt sure about nailing it down but definitely mixed-race, Southeast Asian ancestryBirthplace and Birthdate: Somewhere in the alt Robin-verse USA, February 2, 1981Guilty Pleasures: Buying shoes, going to public locations and covertly summoning the deadPhobias: Decomposition/rotting thingsWhat They Would Be Famous For: Discovering the fundamental nature of arcanic energyWhat They Would Get Arrested For: Improper disposal of biological materialsOC You Ship Them With: Evangeline and her might honestly get along ok???? It’d be a pretty contentious relationship though.OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Vyrm’n is not very fond of attempted death-quantifiers, but she’s likelier to studiously avoid rather than straight-up murder.Favorite Movie/Book Genre: Sci-fiLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Zombies, played straight without proper consideration for biology/physics/etcTalents and/or Powers: Soul has surge protection against sudden catastrophic failure of brain circuitry, has the technology to communicate with disembodied spirits and (she always asks for permission) bind them to receptive vessels for reanimation, Why Someone Might Love Them: Intelligent, motivated, dreams big, likes to keep people informedWhy Someone Might Hate Them: Self-serving, makes unnecessary quantifications of the value of individuals, mostly unapologetic about literally playing god, keeping people informed is mostly to appease her own conscienceHow They Change: They’re currently in this position where they can get blood on their hands and then be a whole universe away in an hour from having to take responsibility for that. Things are likely to not go well if someone calls her out on this “it’ll all be worth it” approach. Why You Love Them: I guess I want(ed) to write a character whose spirit of discovery goes rewarded by the universe after various trials and travails, instead of being punished a la most science horror, and Robin’s the result of that want? Hubris is definitely going to knock her down along the way, and she might well get ganked askance because of cruel happenstance, but the pursuit of knowledge itself shouldn’t be cosmically punished. I guess?????
A short story about my necrologist, Robin Pearson, back when she was making tracks through med school (prior to switching up vocations for her present line of study).
I don’t even remember anymore if this is how academia works lmao
YESS Alias would probably be the best to get along with Robin out of all my reapers because they have the most enthusiasim and are probably the most willing to explain things about it. The others would probably get all grumpy about it because reaping is kinda like being a metaphysical social worker.
Yeah, with that analogy Robin is kind of like a political scientist/other social scientist? That, or a policymaker who’s studied the theory extensively but doesn’t have any experience as to what reapering is like as a day job. She wants to know more about it because she thinks she can totally optimise the process, but would be seen by most in this situation as nosy and meddlesome.
Robin’s respectful of people but she also feels like bureaucracy (or other systems we take for granted as iron-clad) is something that needs to be constantly critiqued, but changing things up is bound to be annoying for the people actually doing the thing and acknowleding it works well enough, even if the system isn’t perfect.
What I’m saying is Robin would be a bad influence on Alias, giving her a lot of legitimately good questions to think about but potentially ruining her chances at career advancement, because she’s too young to be challenging the systems in place.
♩ 🎻 ♪🎷 ♫🎺 ♬ (yer band)
This is now the Battle Of The Bands AU even though that wasn’t an option on the meme.
Let’s take Harvestine, green-thumbed cyberpunk demolitions expert; Robin Pearson, modern-day necromancer; Gunzelurge, points-at-a-train-and-calls-it-a-horse; and Evangline Morelock-Lanceblood, The Worst Vampire, who become a four-piece ladies noise-rock outfit.
Robin is probably the likeliest of the four to have actual music training, probably in the form of piano or flute or something back in middle school before she told her parents she wasn’t into it anymore. No, wait, it’s canon on Harv’s sheet or whatever that she’s actually trained in piano, because her background was basically Robin’s (upper-middle class) except for the part where Harv had a spirit animal who told her to solve everything with physical violence.
Anyway, Harv can totally play the piano but instead calls dibs on the percussion. Gunzelurge protests, because hitting things hard is her deal, but Robin eventually does a bit of research and figures out how to string together a bunch of effect pedals and synths and input devices and makes the big metal druid a big, complicated drum machine, into which Gunzelurge can bellow and echo back at herself to her heart’s content.
Gunzelurge placated, Robin goes and finds a keytar or something and provides the band with something approximating a melody. Evangeline is naturally awful at whatever role in the band she tries to take up, but is adamant she’s, like, a river vampire which is like a siren? So she’s definitely good at singing. (Spoilers is not good at singing, but honestly that kind of contributes to the band’s overall aesthetic.)
Their live shows are legendary, in part because Evangeline is the perfect frontman. She’s strong, agile, accident-prone and recovers from most injuries within the hour provided nobody tries to drink tequila off her back (she’s got a weakness to salt). Nobody rehearses or remembers to write shit down so setlists are a very organic affair. They recorded a single at one point and no longer know how to play the songs on it.
Their most memorable (read: the ones that remained the longest in a form resembling the original) tracks include “Ult Is An Asshole”, “Punching You Can Be Cathartic For You Too With A Simple Attitude Adjustment”, “Horse Solo”, and a passable cover of Be Your Own Pet’s “Adventure”.

Robin walked out of the wreckage. A little bit after everyone else, but being impaled on plane shrapnel is pretty inconvenient, according to her. The other survivors are very unnerved, because they scoured the plane for survivors hours ago, time which Robin apparently needed to compose herself again. The air marshal or some other survivor toting a gun almost double-murdered her when she eventually extricated herself, which initiated a scolding and forced a referendum that the gun be confiscated and left where everyone can keep an eye on it.
Robin insists that it’s not that bad even as she, like, turns off her biological functions or whatever so eating’s nbd. They’re totally all going to survive until they get rescued! Granted, she’d be more use with the cabin situation if she had her suitcase, which doesn’t contain all her materials but at least has a few. Shame the back end of the plane is submerged on that reef over there, huh?
Robin at least offers to help make shelter if they object so badly to her strolling over to the fuselage and retrieving her stuff. It’s just water, guys, sheesh. She’s not great at makeshift shelter-building, but does her best. Probably wanders off and checks out the local wildlife, and nobody really minds that she’s made herself scarce.
Things go relatively peacefully for a while, until someone gets a fever or an alternative emergency pops up. Robin offers again to go fetch her stuff, surgery’s or medical doctoring is beyond her, but she could probably dredge up one of the pilots’ souls, get them to talk someone through the process to get a radio working again.
Robin is very glad there’s no active volcano on this island, because the way the conversation swung after that you’d think they’d have shoved her into it. The survivors put it to a reluctant vote, which basically let Robin and whoever supported her fool endeavour go risk their limbs trying to retrieve the submerged luggage.
After all that, things went relatively smoothly, and they even got the radio working. The pilot’s ghost made noises like he wanted to stick around, and Robin totally would’ve been ok with it (he was the most pleasant conversational partner to her, politely curious about her work and stuff, but whatever I guess if everyone else votes to banish you I don’t exactly have a choice, sorry).
One acrimonious week later, rescue arrived. Robin, having lied about vanishing the pilot’s ghost, checked out of the hospital early and used the rest of her sick leave to take the poor guy back home before untethering him from the physical realm of existence.
He probably could’ve found his way back eventually (Robin knows for a fact it doesn’t actually matter in the greater scheme of things), but it’s the thought that counts.
