I don't think you're wrong in the post but I think the connection you make here is a little off...Catholicism in Ireland existed for centuries before "white" was invented and the Irish were seen as such. furthermore there isn't really a preserved "authentic" pre-Christian tradition, and the idea that we should return to that "stronger" pagan culture is actually something the nazis were All About

To be clear my objection is less “Catholicism is a part of Irish culture” and more “Catholicism, which I personally resent and find theologically absurd, is one of the only aspects of Irish culture I was in any way immersed in.” That is, it’s not a question of Catholicism being inherently White, or even preserved by Whiteness (as you rightly point out, the imperial project would have an Anglican Ireland), but more a question of it feeling like the only aspects that survived the migration and the generations are ones that are no good to me.

I don’t care about Celtic paganism or anything like that, and I’m well aware that fascists are weird and gross about that shit, I’m just saying that it’d be nice if I grew up knowing anything about secular traditions and folklore, or about the history of my ancestors, that sorta thing.

it’s ok, boycotting brands as an individual doesn’t work super well, especially when it’s a HUGE corporation. like there has to be awareness-raising so more people know and the company has to know why it’s happening. stuff like this really only works if it’s organized and not just a generalized post on tumblr

yeah i think this is part of what my meaning was but i wasnt able to parse the thought in my head. i think this is why the delete uber movement is actualy gainig ground enough that uber is responding to the people that have deleted their accounts (including me) is that it was publicized with its own hashtag and everything. i did delete my uber account and wrote the reason why and they emailed me pretending to stand with immigrants despite their working heavily with trump, which i hope means that their business suffered enough impact for it to be felt (though they offerend no apologies)

pepsico on the other hand is a huge food company that makes so many things its impossible to even remembere what tall they do eben if you want to boycott them, and i doubt a significant amount with give up their favorite foods products to join a boycott that doesnt even have a snapy hashtag to go along with it

sometimes i dont feel ethically sound buying a product (ike nestle water) but that has to do more with personal comfort than a move to actually boycott a brand in a significant way because there hasnt been significant mobilization by the public
