A staff member from Royal stops you soon after you arrive at the company in the morning. She greets you with the slightest bow, but a gaze that isn’t quite forgiving. “Hi, Wonwoo-ssi. I’m a PR manager here. Come with me. We have something to talk about.”
Her voice suggests this isn’t up for discussion, and when she begins to lead the way down the hallway to an office, you’re expect to follow. Once you both step inside, she motions for you to sit down while she sits behind a desk and across from you.
“You’re new here, but there are some things you need to understand very quickly,” she begins. “One of those is how to behave on social media.” She pauses, and blinks at you, like she expects you already know what she’s talking about. If you don’t, however, she pulls out a mobile phone and shows it to you, your instagram post lit up on the screen.
“If you read through your contract carefully, you would’ve noticed dating is strictly prohibited. Of course, I looked into things a little further and I understand this was just a set up for your collaboration with Kim Hyuna-ssi, however, this behavior is still unacceptable, especially with how new you are to the company. I hope what you post on social media won’t be an issue for us in the future. If it is, your future may be better spent without Royal Entertainment.”
She pauses again to let her words soak in, then sighs. “Either way, we’re making sure it won’t be an issue for a while. CEO Seo Jisub is very unhappy with how the trainees have been behaving on social media as of late. This is the final straw.” She hands you a very official looking sheet of paper. “This is our new company memo. You’ll be interested in reading that and following it very closely. Welcome to Royal Entertainment, Wonwoo-ssi.”
the first thing that crossed his mind when the staff basically blocked his way, was shit. hyuna texted him already about her being banned from sns, and he could only think of the worst case scenario at that point. he’s new, very unskillful compared to other trainees, and already has a history of problematic sns posts. if hyuna got banned, he could only imagine himself being suspended or kicked out entirely.
nodding hesitantly, he followed the lady down the hallway and into an office. the interior was not too shabby, he thought. at the very least, there was light pouring in from the glass panels, making it less sinister inside. motioned to sit down, he heeded her instructions. he couldn’t afford to get into more trouble.
as the phone was slid towards him, he nodded, knowing exactly why he had been called to the office. “i know, but–” his speech was cut by the lady’s, and he dared not to complain. her following words sent a wave of relieve over him though, as she indicated that the company did know what’s been going on before dragging him in for judgement. a collaboration was supposed to be fun, and the teasers were a silly mistake on their part, if you could call it that. listening to every word the staffer says after, he nodded weakly. when he had told his brother he’s been scouted, the first thing he said was “stay out of trouble and do well”. less than a month after and he’s already screwed up pretty bad.
“i’ll make sure to be more careful in the future.” bowing, he took a deep breath. lifting his head in time for the lady’s sigh, he flinched a little. he couldn’t help but feel bad to see and hear such disappointment aimed straight at him. taking the paper, he didn’t look down until after the other dismissed him. getting up and bowing once again, he powerlessly walked past the doors and down the halls. he wondered what the paper could hold, and finally stopped in his tracks. brows knitted, he studied the content of the letter.
a company ban. great job, jeon wonwoo. royal’s definitely in love with you now.
