This was the first time Princess Margaret had met the Duchess of Windsor since her childhood in the 1930s. It was said that the Princess was easily influenced by the opinions of others and in 1986 after the Duchess died Princess Margaret refused to attend the funeral of ‘the woman who ruined my uncle.’
