R76 valentines week by @r76valentinesevent - Relaxation/First date
The last time Gabriel had a chance to “relax” he’d earned three new scars and been banned from a lovely onsen in Hanamura. At this point the very word was enough to make him twitch. Everyone had started walking wide circles around the word- suggesting he “rest” and “take a vacation” and “tone down the crazy eyes, boss.”
McCree had gotten away with that only because he’d hidden behind Ana, who’d taken one look at him and said the cursed words.
“You need to relax, Gabe.”
“I do not.”
“You’ve got the crazy eyes.”
“That’s what I said.” McCree muttered, and then ducked behind Ana again as Gabe glared him down.
Ana shifted her stace, blocking McCree from Gabriel’s glare and staring him down.
“You’re taking a day off.”
“You’re not the boss of me.”
“I might not be.” She grinned.
“But I know who is.”
“You wouldn’t.”
She pointed to her ear, where there was a green light on her com.
“I already did.”
Gabe took a step back. Ana’s hand dropped to her hip, hand on her sidearm. Gabe spun and starting sprinting, ducking as he heard the pop of discharge to dodge the sleep dart.
He heard her footsteps- taking off after him- but she was a sniper. She wasn’t as good at aiming on the move, and he dodged her next shot by diving down another corridor. Blackwatch base. He just had to make it to the blackwatch wing-
A flash of blue came up from his left and slammed into his side, taking him down in a tangle of limbs and fabric. His head hit the wall and he clenched his eyes shut.
“Ow.”
“Serves you right.” Surely that wasn’t his husband’s voice. Surely he hadn’t just gotten football tackled by Commander Jack Morrison.
He opened his eyes.
Jack was laying across his chest, grinning- his face red and his hair a mess. His stupid coat was tangled between them.
“Got you.”
Gabriel groaned dramatically, flopping his head back to the floor.
“Why won’t you let me do my job.”
“You’re not you when you’re hungry. Take a break, have a snickers.” Jack monotoned. Gabriel squinted at him.
“I think you’ve been watching too much TV.”
Jack shrugged, crossing his arms across Gabe’s chest.
“It’s just been on in the background in my secretary’s office. Also- you. Me. Japan. Now.”
Gabriel blinked.
“What?”
Jack rolled his eyes, pushing himself off of Gabriel’s chest and offering him a hand.
“We’re going on an overdue honeymoon and getting over your fear of onsens.”
“I do NOT have a fear of-”
“Jesse says he touched your shoulder on your way in to the last one and you threw him two yards.”
“He should know better then to-”
“Gabriel.” Jack pouted. “Don’t you trust me to have your back?”
Gabriel scowled.
“That’s cheating.”
“Never on you hubby. Come on.”
Much as he grumbled, Gabriel let Jack pull him away towards the hanger. Maybe a bit of relaxation wouldn’t be so bad with jack beside him.
But he was bringing a weapon into the bath this time.
