I have this headcanon that Will loves to make small talk with everyone he meets because he is our baby extrovert sunshine boy, but the only one he doesn't do small talk is Halt because he knows Halt doesn't do small talk. So when he causes trouble or gets himself into trouble, Will decides to randomly make small talk with Halt,it is like a game he plays. It becomes like a thing between them like:

*going to Araluen Castle to meet with Crowley for some reports*

Will: ...

Halt: ...

Will: How lovely is the weather today!

Halt: ??

*the inn behind them exploding*

Will: Don't you think the trees are always at their best at this season?

Then she sipped at the hot, sweet drink, feeling it course through her weary body, easing her throbbing head, revitalising her, refreshing her with its wonderful, restorative aroma and rich taste. She sipped again, deeper this time, then put her head back and sighed appreciatively. ‘Maybe I could get used to this,’ she said. Will raised one eyebrow. ‘There might be hope for you yet,’ he said.

For Armitage, working with Germans who grew up on both sides of the Berlin Wall, which divided the communist East Berlin from democratic West Berlin until it fell in 1989, helped bring to life the tales of Cold War espionage he’d researched to play a spy.

“Aside from the research and reading and looking at photographs, all I needed to do was speak to members of the crew and some members of our cast who did grow up in eastern Germany and had shocking experiences,” he recalled.
