Shima/Yamantaka/Shima family HCs because I said I would ages ago and never got around to it #5 ?

It’s been so long since I did one of these lol. I can’t wait for tomorrow anyway here’s some more in the meantime!

- Shima doesn’t like lightning but not solely because he thinks he’s creepy. It’s because he somehow effortlessly got Bon to revert to the perfect little soldier temple heir that the myoda have been waiting for.. his whole life Bon rebelled against everything he thought wasn’t right, the bullies at school who made fun of them for being poor, the ones who left the temple and called it cursed and finally his own father… he’d get mad, start a fight and storm off, wanting so badly to prove himself that he’d inadvertently get the temple to listen to him. Sure, they’d still treat him as a kid which would rile ryuji up more but he had an actual stance! A position that, with enough of his rebelling, might actually get the hidebound tradition temple to change some of their rigid ways. As bad as it sounds, Shima planned to use bon to do just that. He didn’t have a position, was never listened to and was never going to be taken seriously. But Bon could do it, he just needed a little nudging or so Shima thought. Then lightning swooped in and changed Ryuji in barely a week. He chopped his motivation hair, worked long hard hours for his “master” and no longer picked fights over the small things or even the big things. Bon was calculating now, taking steps back to observe and then act, using his big smart brain to find solutions that didn’t involve violence. He wanted to grow or so he said but Shima can’t see it as growth, only conformity and he hates it. If he didn’t feel like he was under a microscope before….

- By making Renzou’s body stronger, Yamantaka inadvertently helped renzou survive the temptaint wound that he got during the blue night. Despite the tiny scratch that barely bled, temptaint on a newborn is bad news and without the assist, he would’ve been way worse off. Which is also why the scar never faded. I hc that it took his family a little time to even notice it because of their grief for the recent death of takezou. That being said it would mean that renzou could see demons long before Bon and koneko (as mentioned in the Kyoto arc that ryuji still couldn’t see demons before entering the cram school) (does that mean they had to be scratched or wounded by a demon on purpose to get a temptaint?)

- Renzou is the literal embodiment of “it is what it is” combined with “my performance will be unlike anything you’ve ever expected. My walls will never fall without a fight.” The latter actually going hand in hand with the idol thing that he mentions for the first time all the way back in the Illuminati arc volume extras so it’s been a dream for a while. Oddly enough it fits him a little too well,, that ‘fake persona’ idols usually have. I think he loves that aspect of it.
