My Golem of Prague souvenir, coupled with a small jar of Vltava river clay from the same banks Rabbi Loew is said to have created his infamous golem from. I collected it on my 2012 honeymoon with ever-patience then-wife @adriennehodgeart looking on semi-approvingly as I dug down and scooped fistfuls of clay into a plastic Coke bottle. Something a little different for this Sunday morning. This is my Golem of Prague souvenir, along with a jar of Vltava River clay—the very same from which folklore holds the golem was crafted—collected from its banks by yours truly in 2012 while my long-suffering wife-at-the-time stood guard. There was a music festival setting up nearby and lots of puzzled pedestrians staring as I had my arm elbow-deep in the sludge to get to the clay banks, but I got a few fistfuls into our water bottles. We purchased some European facial mud and stuffed the emptied containers with the river clay so no one would question us in customs. The Golem. The story goes that, in the 1500s in Prague, the Jewish community was under attack. Rabbi Loew was given a dream vision of the word "amet/emet" or truth, and understood that it was the word that could bring clay to life.
