Finish Area Launch Site (FALS)

The third Race Operations meeting is officially in the books. Last night the main focus of presentations came from the Finish Area Launch Site (FALS) groups: FALS Dock Setup, FALS Field Setup, FALS Parking, FALS Dock Operations and SADL. With over 9,000 athletes competing over 2 days a lot of hard work and planning is put into the launching and landing sites. A quick rundown of the FALS committees and their roles: FALS Dock Ops: This committee is comprised of nearly 150 volunteers who help all crews on and off the docks. Each dock is broken into teams of Dock Masters (in charge of the dock), Launch Masters (in charge of crews going on/off the dock) and Oar Carriers to assist all crews.  FALS Parking: This committee is responsible for parking all the boat trailers at the Finish Area on Friday.With a limited amount of space this year we've introduced a registration procedure for all on-site boat trailers, learn more here. FALS Dock Setup: This committee's job is to construct docks and onshore infrastructure for the safe and efficient launching of visiting 4s and 8s participating in the Regatta. Each year 10 docks are constructed the weekend prior the the HOCR and put into place for the launching and landing of all hulls. FALS Field Setup: Responsible for setting up all the boat racks and oar racks on-site for the 8 docks at the FALS site. 31 days.
