Just fucking myself up thinking about how Johnny Silverhand and Rache Bartmoss appear to be just two sides of the same nihilist coin, but—

Most people who care to know, know what Bartmoss did, know that it was him. No one will ever know what Silverhand did. It is hidden under a thousand layers of black marker.

And the fallout of Bartmoss’ little gift to the world is still felt and fought against over fifty years later. While Arasaka shrugged Silverhand’s nuke off in, relatively speaking, no time at all before turning the crater into a tourist attraction.

Just about everyone who knows about him says this but I think it was pretty fucked for Rache Bartmoss to exclusively be referenced as

Dead body in a freezer in a wasteland junk pile that Johnny (famously unreliable) identifies as being him (challenged in a vague manner by Pondsmith, somewhere on the internet)

A treasure hunt style quest that has you climbing up and down various structures in search of the 'Bartmoss Collective' that turns out to be nothing more thank a prank.

Rache Bartmoss, when he was alive, was a reclusive anti social (ish) freak first and foremost, but also one of the most brilliant independent minds of his generation. If they were going to turn the guy into a joke, they could have at least used the material that was already there... like how he went on one date with one girl ever (Kimi Tara) and swore dating off for the rest of his life. The man was a freak, but an important and well connected freak. I just hope one day there will be more about him that isn't vague.

I mean... it's INTERESTING that Rache Bartmoss's body (if Johnny is right about that) is found in a freezer in the same location where V woke up after dying and acquiring her brain-Johnny (judging by the nearby erstwhile Dexter Deshawn) AND that in the ttrpg stuff, Johnny's own body was in cryo-storage... Really makes ya think
