My current WIP. The numbers of Strip Weathers, Chick Hicks, and Lightning McQueen.

I tried drawing the numbers by hand but that got me nowhere so I printed out pictures, traced them with tracing paper, covered the back with graphite and then transferred them onto the wood.

And for anyone wondering, I’m painting this on a piece of wood leftover from our homecoming parade float that was standing outside the back of my sorority house.

I’ll post a picture of it when it’s complete.

Finished this one a few hours ago. Based on something I wrote on a stickynote in very small print. It’s available on Stunod Racing already.

The idea here was to make the number 89 look like it belonged on a legacy racing ream, like Petty Enterprises or something, only not *quite* Petty Enterprises.

For what it is, I like it.

Reading up a little on the number system pre-2014 and??? I would have assumed that if it was based on Constructors championship, would you then not give the numbers based on which driver scored higher??

Like ok the team was 4th in the constructors so they get numbers 7 and 8. So then if one driver was 7th in the championship and the other 9th, I would assume the person who was 7th would end up with the number 7 and the person who was 9th would end up with the number 8? but that doesn't seem to always happen so is it just given randomly or is it based on like who is the 1st and 2nd driver?
