Rad (1986)
Went to see Rifftrax Live do 1986's Rad, which was awesome. But, try to explain the impossible, hilarious "Bicycle Boogie" scene at work the next day. You just have to see it for yourself. Yes that's Lori Loughlin riding, dancing? on the handlebars of a BMX bike.

Rad (1986)
Rad is probably my favorite movie from my childhood that not many people have heard of. I remember my Mom renting this on VHS in the late 80s saying I’d probably like it. She was right! Like most kids at the time, we rode our bikes everywhere and if you were lucky enough, you had a BMX bike. I didn’t, but still enjoyed my “sporty” Schwinn. Anyway, Rad was supposed to cash in on the BMX craze of the mid-80s.
The movie stars Bill Allen and Lori Loughlin. (yes, I had a major crush on Loughlin back in the day!) The plot is your typical 80s fluff, with the main character Cru (Bill Allen) focusing his life on BMX racing instead of studying for his SATs and appeasing his mother’s wishes for him to go to college. His mom (Talia Shire) is exasperated with her son’s bike obsession, but is generally supportive of him. Cru’s main goal is to qualify for the biggest bike race called Helltrack (yeah, it’s the 80s) and beat the best BMX racers around.
Sadly, this film has never been officially released on DVD, so I own a copy I burned from an original VHS tape.
Thunder in Your Heart is my favorite guilty pleasure 80s soundtrack song. (see below)
