A RadioAppleDust concept that's kicking around in my head:
After his (whatever) birthday, King Lucifer Morningstar is sent two disastrous letters on the same morning. One is from the neighboring kingdom, its Queen offering a nobleman (that Lucifer is well aware no one in the Court likes) as his bride. The other is from a recently married Duke within his own kingdom, a man Lucifer despises and sees as little as possible, offering his new husband's former favorite concubine as a gift.
Lucifer knows he can't refuse. If he does, both of the men will be disgraced, seen as tainted goods, unable to live properly in society or marry someone else. The concubine especially; if he has no use for his old master, he could just be killed, or sold to God knows who or where. But he doesn't want two men who have just been forced into this to have to endure him, either, and he doesn't want to marry someone he's never met or take a concubine he's never met either (or at all, honestly).
So he'll say yes, keep them luxuriously comfortable, be seen with them in public and avoid them in private. It shouldn't be that hard, right? They can all just have their own lives as long as they play along.
Except as soon as he meets Lord Alastor Sylvain and Angel Dust, his plans start going off the rails really, really fast. For different reasons at first, but still...
And why are his new spouse and his new favori looking at each other like that? Whatever, not that he cares, right? Right?
