In Hungarian (specifically Transdanubian) folklore, a werewolf is made at the age of infancy after suffering a curse... or the abuse of it's parents. Said boy or girl would leave the home at 7 years old to hunt by night, and can choose their form as either a wolf or a human at will. Is this a coincidence for Cliff? Is he of Hungarian/Transdanubian lineage?
Cliff is an Animal Person - that’s already a thing in North American mythology! They’re all across the world, are all types of animals, and are both an animal and person at the same time.
Animal People are a separate race, are not cursed into their forms, possess great talents, and sometimes live among humans. An Animal Person even taught humans how to make fire. Grandmother Spider taught humans how to weave cloth.
Thanks for sharing that myth, though! European werewolf lore is very different from Native America/First Nations ideas of how people and animals can relate. :)
