I am old enough to remember when you had to hide the smut because some busybodies would ruin your life if they found your fic and outed you as a "pervert." So much of this purity culture shit is just the same old "PTA mom, Satanic Panic" style moral hysteria

Gotta love the 80s! (TBH, I got in on alt.tv.x-files, so online, but I collect old Miami Vice zines and do a lot of fandom history stuff, so I tend to know people from before.)

What is ONE THING you like about the way i play my character?: Dude, you took a character that was supposed to be a complete monster and actually made a very solid argument that he ultimately had a point and that the Disney Prince might have been in the wrong. That takes doing, especially with the stunts Dyson pulled on screen.

   Perhaps a noteworthy little piece of information; I serve in the field of emergency management as a communications officer. I was on deployment for Hurricane Sandy and several less expansive emergencies before then. When I write Dyson, I’m usually drawing from my own disaster response experiences: the sense of disconnection that comes from being in an affected area with no power, no city water, none of the things we’ve come to define our civilization by; the stressful vigilance of working to establish a daily routine in such an environment; the uncertainty of not knowing what might happen next or what new problems will come up tomorrow– perhaps most of all, the sudden, striking realization of just how little the government cares about its people; how following an abstract regulation which fails its purpose to protect citizens is easily regarded as more important than somebody’s very real life.

   And the focus on getting through one day at a time, making progress little by little, until it’s finished and it’s time to return to civilization– then coming home and finding that civilization feels wrong… It’s not familiar anymore. In the field, a huge part of our job is to manage resources– to take the few resources we have, and find a way to make them work for whatever task needs to get done. In everyday life outside of disaster-affected areas, resources are casually wasted and thrown away on a near-continuous basis. Going from one to the other, in either direction, is… a rather difficult adjustment.

   Having this sense of connection to Dyson, as one might say, actually helped me a lot to be able to quantify and explain my anger at society because of all this, and come up with a strategy to solve the problems on their terms rather than being uselessly resentful all the time.
