Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley ]
If there was something I never missed out the chance for, it was revenge.
Okay, so pretty much everything was normal. Clay and I were watching a movie, sitting together on the couch in luns apartment living room. Nothing special at all.
But it all started when Clay had to use the bathroom.
Lun announced that lun was going to the bathroom, got up, and exited the living room. I didn’t really care at first, but then I noticed lun left something on the couch.
Luns phone.
Okay, I made that a little too dramatic. Clay’s phone is really nothing special, just a normal touch-screen phone with a space-themed phone cover.
So of course, doing the typical thing a best friend would do, I snatched up the phone and keyed in the passcode to unlock it.
Of course, it wasn’t like I was expecting anything blackmail-worthy or whatever. Knowing Clay, luns phone probably had a few messages from luns workplace, and a bunch of selfies. I wasn’t going to invade that privacy though, so away from the messages and pictures I stayed.
Other than a bunch of random games Clay had installed, the phone didn’t have anything interesting, so I just tapped the Music app. Maybe lun had some nice songs in that, I’d never know until I checked, right?
Nothing really caught my eye though, I was even about to exit the app and just set the phone back down like nothing had happened, but then I saw a certain song which changed my mind.
I was going to have some fun with this.
——
"Welcome back." I leaned back a little and turned my head to Clay, who had just entered the room.
"Thanks." Clay flopped back onto the couch beside me. How convenient, the credits of the movie screening on the television started to roll.
"Hey, the movie’s already over, let’s go grab something to eat. It’s on me." I pushed myself off the couch, and Clay got up almost immediately after me. Lun still didn’t suspect a thing as lun pocketed luns phone. What a fool.
"Let’s go for Chinese tonight, it’s close by anyways." My hand was already on the knob of the door, and I turned to face lun.
"Anything’s fine with me. You offered to pay, after all!" Clay grinned. I nodded, before turning back to the door and pushing it open.
Lots and lots of fun with this.
——
I took out my phone the moment we were seated. Clay didn’t seem to do the same, but that was fine. In fact, that was probably better.
"You expecting a call or something?" Clay raised an eyebrow. Well, I couldn’t blame lun. Usually if anybody was the first to check their phone, it was lun.
"No, I’m just calling someone. Hope you don’t mind." I offered a small smile, typing the number into the keypad displayed on my phone, before hitting the ‘call’ button.
The music playing from the speakers of the restaurant was drowned out and replaced with 'NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN—' from a certain astronaut’s phone.
Everybody’s heads turned to our direction instantly, customers and workers alike. Clay was absolutely mortified, unable to even move luns hands to pick up luns phone and stop the ringing. Luns face was red as fire, and probably equally hot. I was too busy giving lun a pleasant little smile. Clay seemed to catch on pretty quickly.
Sweet, sweet revenge.
"APOLLO JUSTICE! WHAT THE BLOODY HELL!" Clay yelled, slamming luns fists on the table and causing lun to stand up in the process.
"You’re welcome." I grinned widely. The people were still staring at us, Never Gonna Give You Up was still playing at full-blast from Clay’s phone. But hey, this was my moment of glory, no amount of staring was going to bring me down at this point.
"C’MON, WE’RE LEAVING!" Clay grabbed luns phone from luns pocket and dashed out of the place. I slowly got up, gave a little wave to the staring people, and strolled out after lun.
Clay made sure to murder my wallet after that, but I still can’t say I regretted it.
