tumblr user @raethestar frequently traces her art.
@raethestar, also known as @rae-the-artist, @rendiggitydog and @/RaeTheArtist on twitter, has been found to trace her art on multiple occasions. we feel it is important to bring this issue to light, as rae has used a few of her traced pieces as examples for her commission work in the past. considering that 1) she has not given proper credit to the bases she has traced from and 2) the work is not her own, this may be deemed as false advertising and is harmful for the original artists she has stolen from. evidence for the confirmed cases of tracing can be found under the cut.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTACK OR HARASS THIS PERSON. we are creating this post in order to bring light to wrong behavior in the hope that rae can identify this and refrain from doing so in the future. to rae herself, we kindly ask that you stop tracing from multiple sources, or if you decide to continue doing so, to 1) not use it as commission advertisement and 2) provide proper credit to the best of your ability.
first and foremost, the screenshot below shows rae referring to pinterest as her source of reference. however, it is important to note that rae explicitly deems the poses she draws as ones that “i come up with” rather than providing proper credit for the original bases.
here is a link to her pinterest, which contains many of the bases we found that she traced directly from. they can be found in the “Draw Ideas” board.
next, this post on tumblr, as well as this one on twitter, are rae’s commission postings. as we’ll show in a bit, two of these commission “examples” (the two on the bottom, listed under “Background/Extra Character”) are traced directly from bases and aren’t actually rae’s art, despite the fact that she is consciously advertising them as such. this is stealing, false advertising, and a direct lie to her possible customers. it is unacceptable in every sense of the word.
below are a few examples of traced artwork, at least from what we could find:

the original twitter account this base comes from appears to no longer exist, but the kanji has been translated to say “second copy/trace banned”
ely’s 100k celebration piece. arms are traced from the middle, legs are traced from the right. ely does not condone tracing or art theft of any kind. (mar. 16, 2020)

and last but not least, this one is stolen directly from DeviantArt user Anipul, with no proper credit. rae’s version traced and mirrored the pose. (apr. 3, 2020)
tracing – even if it is claimed to be from a “draw the squad” base – is wrong if you decide to post it without proper credit and claim that art as your own, ESPECIALLY if you use multiple traced art pieces to “advertise” your art skills and gain money from doing so. it’s literally plagiarism. our only request to rae is that she refrains from participating in this behavior in the future, or to at least provide credit where credit is due.
to reiterate, PLEASE do not attack rae for this behavior. we simply aim to bring light to the situation. thank you for your consideration.
Probably? The hand me down TV my parents gave me. It’s a smart TV so I can watch netflix, and I have an old Sony player for DVD’s. I can watch/listen to youtube or a crime show on that while I’m working and its just

Heya! I love your watercolor art, and so I got myself a nice watercolor set for Christmas! Do you have any protips?
Try out different paper types - start with mixed media, then try cold press, and hot press, just to experiment and see what you like. Also, if you didn’t already get these, I’d recommend getting Koi Waterbrushes!! Keep tissues nearby when you paint - if you make a mistake, you can easily wipe up the paint, because even though it dries pretty quickly, you can always add more water to the pigment to then wipe it away.

I couldn’t roll my eyes any harder at the frozen short, but I greatly appreciate Olaf’s tendency to see positive aspects in practically every situation. But just….. an entire 20 minute short???

im glad ;v; it’s admittedly been bugging me in the back of my head and has been ruining how i interact with my art for a few years. even if i got an amazing image it “didn’t count” because I did it using layer modes. Instead of being happy that I made a good picture, I felt like I cheated and didn’t do it the right way, and that I was a hack for doing it that way. like an image was only really good if i did it the “right way,” and the “right way” was really really hard for me! it made me feel like a bad artist!
so like. if i can help someone else avoid that pain then hell yeah. im glad it helped.
