He narrows his eyes at you with a small huff of “Hey” and throws a couple pieces of popcorn at you. As if this is some form of bad entertainment to him. Jerk.

“Just pretend everyone is naked! Then you won’t be nervous.”

“That doesn’t actually work,” you counter, “it’s an urban myth.”

You’re saying that now, but by the time your speech came around, you found yourself with sweaty palms and jelly legs, your eyes locked on the podium because you can’t bring yourself to look up at the audience. Nothing could calm you down right now, not even the methodical breathing exercises you did beforehand. So you’re left with one last thing, your mind echoing that silly suggestion your best friend had made.

Before you open your eyes to the expectant crowd, your lips mumble one last thing.

“Please be naked, please be naked, please be naked.”

“Stop referring to my jacket as a ‘ceremonial robe’ whenever you ask to wear it before my games,” Akaashi tells you, a sliver of a tease in his sentence but a playful tone in his voice, as he slides his Fukurodani VB jacket off of him and drapes it over your shoulders.

You shrug yourself into it with a big grin on your face, silently but outwardly revelling inside the oversized clothing item while you zip it up to enclose yourself, and clap your hands to his chest, “If I wear it before every game, then it’s ceremonial.”

The feeling of his hands snaking around your waist no longer makes you jump or flush, but it still makes you slightly weak in the knees when he leans down closer to murmur, “Is that so?”

ok HI i answered 24 first and it got absurdly long so ill answer the others in separate posts and @ you NFSKJSDFS

24.  would you confess first, or would they? how would it have gone?

with futakuchi, i feel like its less of a confession and more of a confirmation--slowly but surely, our dynamic has changed. he waits for me after class, my hand slips into his like it was meant to be there, and (most importantly) we have a friday night ritual where we get food after he finishes practice.

in my head, its not that typical shoujo manga Top Of The Hill Under The Cherry Blossom Tree kinda confession and more of a “what are we” kinda discussion!

“could i get no bean sprouts on mine?” kenji asks the waiter, who’s already accounted for his preference on the notepad. the hole in the wall ramen place is one of our favorite places to go for our friday night dinners, enough to make us regulars.

i sneak a glance at futakuchi as he wraps up his order. his stupid hair reminiscent of 2010 justin bieber sticks to his forehead despite the restaurant’s ac being enough to send goosebumps up my arms. i shoulder on his jacket from where it hangs off my chair, tugging the sleeves out to cover my hands. “see? i told you so,” he teases, sticking his tongue out at me once the waiter is out of earshot. “you always get cold when we sit here.”

and really, it’s something so childish, so mundane, yet a metaphorical light bulb flickers on. it’s bright enough to blind, to slightly shift the balance of everything i thought i knew. “kenji.” his jacket smells of his godawful cologne that i pretend i hate, the faint scent of cedar--of him--still lingering despite the long day we’ve had. “what are we doing?” the words come out before i realize where we are--this is not the place to have a serious discussion--but i press on anyway. it’s too late to take the words back.

he quirks an eyebrow, no doubt wondering if this is the start of a verbal sparring session. “we’re getting ramen? by the way, you better not put your bean sprouts on my bowl again--”

“no, like...” i gnaw at the inside of my cheek, trying to choose the right words to say (when did it get so hard? talking to kenji was as easy as breathing). “is this a date?”

oh my god saying the words makes it Real ???? like Really Real?????

futakuchi doesn’t know how to respond; turns out it’s a damn good question. before he can put together a coherent response, i’ve pasted on a pleasant smile for the waiter who’s come with our food. “wait.” the waiter stops in his tracks, head turned in our direction. “sorry, not you,” futakuchi amends. both of us are still, food untouched and steaming on the table. “is this...a date? are we...dating?”

it’s odd, unexplored territory for both of us. not the concept of a relationship, mind you, but that sort of label for the friendly vitriol we’d shared our entire high school career. “i think so.”

“huh.” he takes a moment to look at me, to really look, as i push up the sleeves of his jacket up so i don’t get (as many) soup stains on it. (he doesn’t admit it for another two months, but the sight of me across the table that night was enough to spark his own metaphorical light bulb, too.) “okay.”

“that’s all you have to say?” i ask, digging into our shared order of gyoza.

“yeah. we wouldn’t be here if we didn’t like each other, would we?” he has a point (he always does, for better or for worse). “so will you, like...be my-my-” he pauses to fake retch, drawing the attention of the elderly couple behind us, “my girl- girl-” he’s fake gagging, and the couple is two seconds away from notifying the waitstaff, but i can’t stop laughing, “-man, i can’t even say it.”

“yes, i’ll be your stupid girlfriend. even if that makes you my boy-” this time, i’m the one pretending to gag, and the couple looks even more mortified, “boyfriend.” i recoil, the word like acid along my tongue. (in truth, the word lifted a weight i wasn’t aware of off my shoulders. everything feels a little easier to handle, knowing he was tied to me whether he liked it or not for the time being.)

this sounds so repetitive by now but akaashi fans also seek a dominant person in their life because they never had one or more like a person who can give them clear constructions!! they are the ones who always lead others even tho they don’t know what they are actually doing

there’s also the possibility that you have a lot of common things with akaashi like keeping things to yourself, looking out for others, acting like you know what you do but actually just struggle like everyone else yet no one notices

hello i think owltierights was amazing and i loved it. if you want some love i really love how the emails were so humorous. it also shows the little relationships between each character which makes it so fun to read. it's really a bite size candy - sweet, short and wonderful. hope you make more esp if it was great in reducing stress!!!!! bc it also made me laugh and laughing reduces my stress
