Analog horror Au, I'll call it "the fall of the divine" so I can differentiate when I ask about this Au.
You can talk more about the appearance of the infected, because in my mind it comes to me: sickly white-skinned beings with multiple eyes (and eyes where there shouldn't be any) with golden irises, multiple wings that vary in size and religious symbols engraved on their skin. (whether crosses, rosaries or even a crown of thorns).
Ah yes! My friend and I have already come up with a name for it, we call it the Divinity of a False God AU! Super similar ngl
Ad for the designs it has a deeper in-depth on how it works, im willing to talk further on it and how it would affect certain people depending on current or past injuries too
Take the stages of infection like a mlp infection au with stages ranging majorly.
I will use Miko as an Example since she is the first affected with the Divinity:
It will start as better healing, but almost too well, they have brighter and healthier skin so its seen as improvements at first, but soon the akin starts getting easily damaged as the body tries to get used to the rapid changes, so rapidly healing scratches and bruises are common.
Later on, the skin will get irritated, specifically around the arms, neck, face and torso. Rashes will appear on the back for the wings that will appear in the much later stages and the skin will have major scratch marks from the person scratching repeatedly, this results in some open wounds too, some that oddly enough wont heal as quickly.
Soon the scratching begins to feel like there is something under their skin, like bugs. The small wounds will begin to change, either healing or forming eyes. So yeah, Miko gets a big cut when she first gets infected and it becomes an eye on her chest/neck. Their body will begin to fight more against it resulting in fevers or other symptoms. Rashes are more noticeable at this stage.
And then comes the major affects, not only the wings but also the body itself morphing and mutilating, the divinity will try to 'fix' the body of the organism of any 'flaws' but in a way that makes it inhuman and uncanny, this is when the people begin to look more abnormal and hurt.
They can feel all of it as it happens too, if a person had a missing limb it will grow back painfully and slowly, but it wont be the same and look the most inhuman out of all the other limbs. But in a way it still looks mythical or angelic. But it hurts like hell. This also happens if a person has something like scoliosis, this results in their spine stretching to lengths that would kill a normal person. The wings will break through and be white with red stained for a few weeks. Also bones will break sometimes, healing back with golden colors or healing incorrectly on places like the legs, making a bipedal leg look. Oh and their blood starts to become golden
At this stage it has the highest mortality rate since its the stage of which the Divinity is trying to 'perfect' the host. The divinity is pointed out to have a sort of awareness, but just enough to encourage the person to spread divinity like its a good thing and manipulating their mind but not removing their personality entirely, only the bad parts get blurred from their mind.
Its at this point that if the transformation is too much to bare for the host that the divinity will instead lead the host to a populated area or place with less nature and kill the host instead. The body will then turn into floral blooms and a full flower bed. That area is now permanently infected if the body is not removed quickly.
Also! After this point, if the host survives then they can no longer be looked at for a prolonged amount of time at risk of infecting the viewer from long exposure to Divinity. It is not meant to be seen by mortal eyes after all.
After this stage they become the beauty of their form and near immortal to entirely immortal. Morphing to fit their personality sometimes over a years spans.
They are now a beautiful angel, be not afraid of course! :]
Many MANY years back the Divinity first happened, causing people to believe in the sight of gods angels. But people took notice and locked those angels away in a garden protected by magic. Leaving them to die before reaching the final form and leaving all infected plants, animals and people barricades in there.
And while yes the humans and animals infected there died. Their bodies created the beautiful garden within the walls. Making the entire garden a divine paradise. Even having some animals be reborn in there but still stuck within the barrier. Nothing will get out, humanity is safe.
