How could you have been so stupid to leave the safety of your home all because of those nagging, awful thoughts that crept into your head? It was another awful night of you alone in your place, your thoughts betrayed you as you mindlessly flipped through one of your favorite books, your eyes scanned over the words, not truly reading them. You should have stayed there, you scolded yourself over and over as you wrapped your arms around yourself to stop from shivering so much, but it was a rainy night in Chicago and you knew better. Staying here wasn’t exactly in your plans but it all boiled down to you wanting to start somewhere new, somewhere that you could start over and try to live a normal life away from the things that made you feel trapped.
So you kept your chin held high and continued about your life here in Chicago, though you were completely oblivious to the constant dangers that lurked around every corner, you definitely didn’t expect to have some serial killer on the loose during your stay here, but you were blissfully unaware of it, you were just lucky.
You were found wandering the streets, lost, alone, and you had no fear as you seemed completely shut down from your emotions. You knew it wasn't safe to be walking around these streets at night, the Lakeside Strangler was still running wild and according to the news, he wasn't letting up anytime soon. But you didn't care, maybe you wanted to find him, maybe he'd help relieve your pain. So maybe you weren’t lucky, you were just ignorant.
To your surprise though, on this rainy Chicago night, you saw the streets were strangely empty of people and cars. There wasn’t a holiday or a flash flood warning, it was just regular rain, you even checked your phone when you could to make sure you weren’t risking getting caught drowning. Marked safe, you sighed and slipped the almost dead phone back into your soaked pants pocket and continued on your journey through Northerly Island Park, and the look of the rain against the water soothed your nerves. You found this area that was quite open and there had been a formation of large stones that seemed circular, a spherical area where you could sit down and possibly catch your bearings. Your face felt heavy and puffy as your hands twitched, you were thinking of those thoughts again and you tried so hard to push them away, but the water seemed tempting and you had just wanted these thoughts to stop.
Time seemed to stop while you sat out here, there was no one who would come over to question you or to bother you, it was oddly comforting, but no matter how hard you tried, you wanted to throw yourself in the water and be done with it.
The wind picked up and it stung your skin with the cold of the rain, so you slowly made it to your feet and trekked back the way you came, but there was a point where you knew you were completely lost. Of course, you were. Your phone had 2% left and you didn’t even want to chance it, it would just be your luck and it wouldn’t truly matter. You made your way back into the winding streets and that’s when you felt truly lost, you had no idea how to get back to your place. You wanted to panic and cry out for help, but who would grant you such a wish? It didn’t matter, you just continued to allow your feet to take you where they took you.
You were completely unaware of the commotion that was taking place just a few blocks away from you, how could you have known? There was very little sound, people were always out making noise at all times of the night, but it didn’t matter to you. As you continued on your way to try and find a familiar street, a landmark, ANYTHING, you suddenly felt like you weren’t alone. As fate would have it, you were in the line of sight of a hidden predator that stalked you just after a fresh kill, the Lakeside Strangler was so close to you that he almost ran into you as you rounded the corner, but you had been saved by a guardian angel that spoke so beautifully.
She wrapped her hand around your arm and yanked you back, her hand clasped firmly over your mouth as you froze in her grasp. You didn’t fight back, you had welcomed whatever was to happen as divine intervention, and maybe you’d soon feel the weightlessness of the life being taken from you. She urged you to be quiet as the man passed along and she held you close to her. As much as you wanted to wriggle free from her grasp, you decided against it and let this woman give you the okay to step back when it was safe.
“Sorry sweet face, I saw that man stalking around and he almost found you, you gotta be careful out here with that maniac running around.” Her painted eyes looked at you up and down, taking in the pathetic sight of you, but she felt such softness as she looked into your eyes. “You’re soaked to the bone, what are you doing out here?”
You didn’t know how to respond but you just remained quiet as you sighed. “Thank you for your help, but I’ll be fine.” You could easily brush her off, she’d leave you be, and you’d continue on your way, but that wasn’t the case.
The woman looked absolutely stunning, too much of a sore thumb for the dingy streets of Chicago. She had an incredible figure under her very fitted striped dress, her heels were tall but she walked in them easily and still looked absolutely stunning even in the rain. She held an umbrella over her head, her blonde hair was obviously permed and the waves suited her face shape well. But you noticed her lips first; incredibly plump and painted with a bright pink color, which matched the color of her eye makeup. You stared up at her wordlessly and bit your lip as you tried your best to think of something to say.
Her mouth formed into a small smile, her birthmark twitched and you enjoyed looking at her smile. “You’re freezing, I can see you shivering, c’mon. I’ll take you back to my place, okay? Run you a nice hot bath. You can stay if you want, I don’t mind.”
You froze at her offer and began to attempt to form some string of sentences. “Oh, I uh, I don’t want to impose on you, that’s too generous, I’ll be fine I just uh, I gotta get home.”
“I’ll help you at least, where do you live? I got a car not too far from here.”
You looked down, almost too embarrassed to reply. “I just moved here not too long ago, I can’t really remember…” The way to get back escaped you, you would worry about it soon enough, but your address was saved in your now-dead phone.
“Aww sweet thing, it’s okay, I’ll take you to my place, okay? Let me help you out.”
“Why? What do you get out of this?”
The woman stopped and gave you a soft smile. “My mother always used to say ‘be kind whenever possible’, she was a smart woman. So I don’t want nothin’ from you, sweet thing, maybe some good company. And someone to help me with my nails, they need some better color.” She looked down at them for a moment and checked the color in the dim lighting of the rainstorm. “I could give you some color too, sweet face, make you cheer up a bit, yeah?”
With a small nod, you hadn’t really known what you agreed to. For all you knew, this would be the last time you ever saw anyone again, but you felt as if that wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world, especially with this woman. She was inviting and kind, maybe she’d grant you the mercy of making it quick, you hoped you could at least have that.
She led you to her car and happily took care of you from helping you into the seat to helping you out when you arrived. It was a small place but it was cozy, welcoming even, and despite you feeling so out of place in general, you felt calm here. The blonde made herself a nice place in the trailer, she made it where she felt like herself, but you didn’t have much time to look around since you were suddenly being guided into the back part of the trailer.
“Alright, run the water to whatever temperature you like, just don’t make it too cold or too hot, a nice middle ground will work. I’ll dry your clothes, charge your phone, and grab you some towels and something to sleep in for the night. If you need me, just call me-”
“What’s your name?”
“Oh, silly me, I completely forgot!” She chuckled and waved her hand dismissively. “I’m Tiffany, Tiffany Valentine. What’s yours sweet face?”
You looked down at the floor and shifted slightly. “I’m Gina.”
“Pretty name,” she cooed as she offered a wink. “Let me take your wet clothes, is that okay?”
You nodded and took off your soaked sweater, though it was a challenge considering how plastered it was to your skin, but you stood there in your underthings and reached for a towel. Tiffany noticed markings along your skin but decided to bite her tongue, this wasn’t her place, she just wanted to help with what she could in the here and now.
“Make sure it’s warm enough!” she called back as she closed the curtain that separated the rest of her trailer from the bathroom.
You looked around as the tub filled up and just looked at everything in more detail, your eyes landing on every possible surface as you took in the sights. She had a small television in here so she could bathe and watch movies, you thought that was cute. Her tub looked comfortable and you couldn’t wait to sink in, but you added some bubbles to make it more relaxing. The scent of the oils smelled wonderful as you slowly dipped into the water and slid down, your back leaned against the tub as the water continued to rise, and you let out a quiet sigh. You actually felt at ease in this stranger’s bathroom, your body submerged in warm water as you allowed your muscles to relax and your mind to empty.
You weren’t sure just how much time had passed since you first slid into the tub, but every moment was more peaceful than the last, even when she began to play some music in the background. As you drifted off a little, Tiffany knocked on the wall beside the curtain and called in softly.
“Gina, sweetie, you doin’ okay doll?”
You pushed yourself up a bit and smiled as you looked toward the door, seeing her silhouette through the plastic. “Yeah, ‘m fine, was just-”
“Don’t fall asleep in there, don’t wanna do that, it’s not safe. Besides, I made you some food if you’re hungry, can’t have that get cold.”
Your head perked up at the sound of food; homemade at that, it sounded like a good idea to get out of the tub if your body allowed you to. “I’ll be out in a few,” you called back, your voice cracking from the straining.
She liked that answer as you could hear the smile she wore as she spoke. “Good, don’t want your food getting cold.” She walked off and allowed you the privacy you needed.
You slowly made your way out of the tub and dripped all over the bath mat while you wrapped the towel around your form, the air in the trailer felt cozy as you leaned against the edge of the tub. When the smell began to waft through the curtain, your stomach let out an unholy growl. Now was the time to get dressed and possibly get some food in you, you couldn’t even remember just how long it had been since you ate. You eyed the clothes she left on the edge of the sink for you, which were a pair of silky pajamas and a fuzzy robe, and you slowly began to slide into them. When you finished, you stepped out through the curtain with your hair wrapped in the towel and you looked uneasy around the trailer.
The gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach lessened but it reminded you not to let your guard down, not yet, anyway. You slowly made your way toward the other end of the trailer and saw Tiffany standing over a small sink as she wiped her hands with a hand towel, then she turned to see you standing there in the middle of the room looking as lost as a puppy.
“Aww honey, how was your bath? Are you feeling any better?” She brushed her hands down on her dress and she stepped closer to you with a small smile on her face.
“Yeah, thanks, Tiffany.” You shifted your weight again and blushed at how close she was standing toward you.
“You sure? I don’t wanna pry since it isn’t my business, but you didn’t look so great when I found you. If you ever wanna talk about it, I can listen, okay?”
This was something you didn’t know you needed to hear and it was already too late to stop the tears that fell freely, but Tiffany didn’t give you the time to wipe them away since she was already hugging you. You weren’t sure if you were thankful someone like this had found you or if you felt truly awful for barging in on her only to be an emotional mess.
“Aww sweet face, it’s okay, I got you, alright?” She held you close and stroked your back to comfort you further. “Let’s get you something to eat, okay? You still got your phone, yeah? I can charge it for you.”
She bothered over you like a mother hen did to her baby chicks, which was rather endearing, so she grabbed the phone that was still surprisingly undamaged despite the amount of rain you dealt with and walked over to her nightstand beside the large bed she had behind a beaded curtain. Of course, your eyes were on her as you watched curiously, wondering what her story was and why she was out in the middle of that storm.
“Do you always invite strangers back to your home?” you asked curiously.
She turned to look at you after she set the phone down with the charger plugged in. “No, not usually, I just felt something was different about you, like you needed help. I never question my intuition.” She smiled as she tapped the side of her nose.
“How come you told me it was dangerous out there when you were out, too? Weren’t you afraid of the Strangler?”
Tiffany scoffed and walked up beside you. “Nah, not really. I was out running errands…” She shifted a little and guided you out to her living area and onto the sofa, and as you sat down comfortably, she wrapped a plush blanket around your shoulders.
You could tell she was someone who was more nurturing than she looked despite her overall look, and you thought that was rather precious to find in someone. When she walked back into the room, she had two mugs of a steaming drink and then came back around with a plate of hot food. That evening, she listened to everything you decided to tell her, she comforted you when you looked as if you couldn’t speak much more, and you looked at her as if she was the most precious person on this planet.
And that’s how it all happened, how you both got wrapped up in each other’s lives until this very day. You awoke to her sleeping beside you, her hands tangled in your hair as she slept peacefully while all you could do was watch her in silence. She was so surreal that you didn’t think she’d be there when you opened your eyes like she was one long fever dream.
Thankfully every day when your eyes fluttered open for the first time, you’d see her there in some way or another, some traces to assure you she was there and she was real. You’d sometimes crawl out of bed to find her cooking food for you in your apartment, or you’d wake up at her place with your legs entwined and your bare forms barely covered by the thrown-about sheets.
You were in a much better place when you were with her, she made sure to keep it that way, too. Sometimes you had your days, she understood that, and she’d give you all the space you desired, or she closed that space if you preferred.
Today was like every other one of those days; her hands were on you as she softly skated across your curves as the feather-light touches stirred you from a deep sleep, the feeling almost made you jolt up from how much it tickled. The smile on your face only grew as you heard her teasing voice call your name over and over again.
“Gina, Gina darling, c’mon, wake up,” she cooed.
You grumbled and looked up at her, one eye closed from the harsh sunlight. “Why?”
“Because I wanna make your favorite for breakfast, silly face.” She pushed herself toward you and tried to kiss your cheek, but you caught her just in time and kissed her lips. She let out a fit of giggles again.
“Well that’s fine I guess, but what if I said we could delay breakfast for a bit…”
Tiffany hummed and gave you a mischievous stare. “And why would we do that?”
You rolled toward her and nuzzled your face against her neck and began to pepper her throat with kisses, warm and inviting as she nestled up close to you with her arms snaked around your waist as best as she could at that angle. She let out another hum of approval as your hand slid up to her breast and gave it a gentle squeeze, letting her know just what kind of mood you were in. She always asked how you were every morning, sometimes she’d let you tell her on your own, but this morning you just wanted to feel close to her and get lost in her.
Tiffany smiled and threw her head back as you continued your assault on her neck while your hand went from squeezing her chest, but shortly after, your fingers gently pinched her nipple and rolled it between your thumb and index finger. You had learned how to press all of her buttons just right, and the same was to say about you, Tiffany knew you almost as well as yourself, that’s why you both got on so well since that night.
“Mhm, I can see why you’d wanna skip breakfast, then,” she chimed in as she ran her fingers through your hair and pulled you into a kiss. When you wanted to protest since you wanted HER to feel good, she pushed you away, crawled onto you, and straddled your hips as she helped your hands in hers. “Let me take care of you, sweet face.”
“Tiff,” you groaned with a small smile, “you always take care of me!”
“Because you deserve it, Gina, you always deserve to have a smile on that sweet face of yours.”
Your fingers began to play with hers and your headspace became sort of muddled now, all because she was right, that’s all she did was take care of you. And she would always remind you that you were worth it no matter how you felt or what others would say, she loved seeing you smile whenever you were in the room. And she was always supportive of you, no matter what you set your mind to, you treasured that so much. So when you were staring at her so long without saying much, she cupped your cheek and rubbed the pad of her thumb across your skin.
“Hey, you okay?” Her voice was low, soft, angelic.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay. Just thinkin’,” you smiled. “Thinking about when you found me at my lowest. And also thinking about how far I've come since then, and you’ve been a huge help.”
Tiffany’s face softened at the mention of it, and if things would have been different that night, if you would have stayed home or would have done something more irrational than just getting lost in a rainstorm, you wouldn’t be here, you wouldn’t be with her. You wouldn’t be finding that happiness. It was a big deal for you, and most times you didn’t know how to explain it to her, how could you? But when you looked at her, it was like she knew, she knew what you’d been thinking, she was magical to you.
You leaned forward and captured her lips in yours, your eyelids fluttered closed, and you enjoyed her here with you. When you pulled away, you just stared at her and smiled. “Tiff, I love you a lot, I hope you know that. And I don’t know where I’d be without you if you hadn’t gotten to me first. I just can’t tell you how much I appreciate all you’ve done for me, I don’t deserve you.” The smile that was on your face was so genuine that it even made Tiff smile wide.
She began to sniffle and suddenly wiped away at her eye as she turned to face away from you. “Aww baby, why’d you have to go and make me so emotional this early?” She sniffed again and looked back at you.
All you could do was laugh as you reached out and wiped her tears for her, then kissed both of her cheeks. “I just like reminding you, that’s all. But if you wanna make breakfast, I won’t stop you, I’ll help out.”
Tiff sat up and slowly stretched out her arms as she looked back at you over her shoulder. “You're gonna be my little helper today? How exciting! Then I can finally teach you how to make my blueberry muffins.” She pulled her legs up to her chest, the blanket barely covering her body as she continued to just look over at you with that smile on her face.
“I’ve watched you how to make them, Tiff,” you reminded her, “I just never made ‘em myself.”
“Then guess who’s going to?”
You groaned and shook your head with a laugh. “You KNOW I’m awful with that! I always make a mess of your kitchen.” You plopped your head back down onto the pillow and dreaded trying to make the batter again. It wasn’t hard in the slightest, you just hated messing up the recipe.
“And it’s easy to clean up, isn’t it? Come on, let’s take a bath, how does that sound?” She pulled at your hand and kissed the tips of your fingers. “It’ll relax us, then we can do the messy part later, and maybe get a little more…messy.” Her eyes brightened at the mere thought of it.
Tiffany was always a very giving lover, but another thing was she loved to cling to you when she was in the mood to do so, especially in the mornings. Waking up next to you was one of her favorite things. Again, she pulled at your hand and giggled excitedly as you gave up and followed her eagerly. There wasn’t much undressing to you minus the underwear you had on, but you could immediately feel her eyes on you.
When you turned to see her staring, she blushed and looked away. “Sorry, does it still make you nervous when I stare?” She leaned over to start the water and began to fill the tub.
You shook your head as you looked down at the old scars, you barely looked at them anymore as you traced your finger across them, your eyes glued to them. “No, it used to, but not anymore.” You lifted your head up and gave her a smile. “It doesn’t bother me anymore, I don’t even know when that happened. Strange.”
Tiffany stepped up and wrapped her arms around you, her breasts pushed at your back and you felt a jolt of electricity run through you at the intimate touch. Her hand reached down and traced the old scars as well, but she smiled. “You don’t know how glad it makes me to hear that, doll.” Her lips then peppered your shoulders with light kisses across from one to the other, until suddenly you felt her give you a soft nibble.
The gasp you made caused her to laugh and spin you around, her hands running up the length of your arms while she suddenly pulled you against her. “The things you can make me do for you, Gina baby, I swear…” Her eyes flitted from your face down to your lips, her tongue reached out and licked your bottom one, then she pulled it with her teeth. She was feeling riled up and wanted to show you how much you made her feel this way, it was only right.
You sat on the edge of the tub as Tiffany straddled you again, carefully standing as not to put too much pressure on your thighs as she sat there, her bare body felt so cool against your flushed skin while she continued to kiss you. Your hands went to her breasts again and she couldn’t help but let out a little moan as you pushed your face forward and began to kiss at her throat down to her collarbone. She allowed her head to fall back while her hands guided yours down to her thighs, then she guided your hand down to her soaked panties and let out a small laugh when you slowly slipped them beneath the hem to feel her.
“Feel that? That’s all because of you, baby,” she cooed.
“And what would you like me to do about that, Tiff?” You asked it playfully, your smile wide as you looked at her with your cheek resting on her chest. “Because I have some ideas, but the water could get cold by the time we’re done.”
She grinned and kissed the tip of your nose. “Or there’s always inside the bath.”
“You think you can wait that long?” You loved to tease her.
She scoffed and placed her hand on her chest. “You think I can’t?”
You shrugged your shoulders and looked at her with a seductive expression. “I don’t know, I guess that’s the whole point, huh? Wanna try it?”
Tiffany sat there and pretended to think, keeping you in suspense as she made it painfully obvious that she couldn’t wait to take you, but you knew that, didn’t you? Another moment ticked by and you looked at her expectantly.
“Well?” you questioned. “If you wait, then I promise not to complain while baking with you, and I even promise to do all of my dishes this time.”
She knew you would anyway, you were just like that sometimes, but weren’t all people difficult in one way or another? Tiffany looked down into your gorgeous eyes and forced out an overexaggerated sigh. “Hmph, fine, I was gonna grab some matches for the candles anyway,” she said matter-of-factly and stood from your lap. She blew you a kiss and walked off to go and fetch her matches.
When she came back, she lit every single wick that was in the bathroom area, and then she placed the television on some music channel on low volume to set the mood, Then the water had just about finished as she poured in some much-needed bubble bath and swirled her arm around in the water. She made a little noise to indicate she was satisfied with the amount of bubbles and then looked over toward you.
“Alright, sweet face, let’s get in.”
You leaned back, albeit more stiffly than you planned, against her chest. She dragged the pads of her freshly manicured fingers up and down your arms, leaving goosebumps in their wake. You took a deep, shuddering breath and sighed with contentment at the feeling she left.
“Relax,” Tiffany insisted, lips brushing your neck just below your ear. “You’re fine, I got you, I always got you.”
“I know,” you assured her.
Finally feeling comfortable as the music overtook you, your head leaned back gently against her just in the dip of her neck and shoulder, she wrapped her arms around your middle and pulled you firmly against her. You both sat there in the warmth of the water as Tiffany stroked the top of your head, the swelling feelings you both had were now simmered down as you both just enjoyed the moment. Your arm stretched out behind you, awkwardly placing your arm around her neck, keeping clear of her platinum blonde hair that was done up to avoid getting it wet. Her face gently nuzzled against you and you both sat there for what seemed like ages, just holding one another, basking in the glory of your togetherness.
A smile played on your lips and you leaned back ever so slightly to make sure she could hear you. “Love you, Tiff,” you murmured gently.
Tiffany hummed happily and kissed the side of your head in response. “Love you too, Gina, doll.” She hummed to the song as she stroked the inside of your arm that hung around her neck, the smile on her face evident as she thought the world of you.
