Oh man, okay. There's two ways this could go they either Do: find a collage that could fit both of their needs and they can both afford it OR Do: NOT find a collage that could fit both but they say they'll discuss it later but each and every moment thy spend they know that if they don't figure something out soon, they won't be able to see each other for a LONG time and they realize they really do like the other and so they say 'no thanks' to collage and they choose traveling together as a band.

YES. YES, ALL THE YES. They start to go on small dates, maybe just to Karkat's house or a small restaurant on special occasions because they still aren't all that open about it yet. But one day when Dave wants to do something special for kar, he books a nice restaurant about a good 20-40 minutes away and kk is so thrilled and feels so gooey because it's like one of his romance novels, they go to sit down and order and start conversing over collages. But. They planned on going to separate ones.
imagine them discussing it @ length though and agreeing to do more research soon to see if the classes one wants to take are compatible with the others college, just to kinda look around and check out their options for staying together before they touch on finally getting into this relationship just to scatter to different corners of the earth immediately.
They are basically making out at this point to be honest, at least until someone comes back to tell them they have to go back to the band room after packing up for an important announcement and Dave and Karkat nearly choke on the air around them and they just pretend to hug again so it doesn't seem obvious and Dave just waves the guy off. Luckily, he didn't seem to notice and Karkat just squeezes Dave in a huge hug and it is so cute. They don't stop hangin out or practicing dance and song either
