So I proposed the idea that I might marry a man to my mom. Keep in mind that I come from a Chinese family and the Chinese value tradition a lot. My mom always talked about how you should love your own family no matter what they do. I gave her scenarios like what if they father would abuse the child, and she said the child should still love the father because they're family. From all this talk about family I assumed she would accept the possibility that I might marry a man. But no. She didn't. She said she's not used to the idea of homosexuality or bisexuality. She said if I did marry a man she would stop seeing me. She doesnt want to see her child marry the same sex. She said she wants me to be happy, but if I marry a man she wouldnt be happy, seeing me would remind her that I'm married to the same sex. So she said she would have to change her future plans so that she won't see me. It saddens me that this is how she thinks. I think you should marry anyone you love as long regardless of gender. Her thoughts bother me a lot. I don't know how I'm going to face her in the future.
