Kulipari: A King Rises - Rainbow Serpent Initial Concept
Realizing I never posted this to Tumblr. This was my initial idea for the rainbow serpent in the AKR finale. The design was eventually put to the wayside. Someone else designed the final look and she ended up just being blue...
Rainbow Serpent
Still We Rise - Harmonia Rosales (2021)
Info:
By directly restructuring Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment, Rosales replaces a canonical Western vision of religious salvation and damnation with a monument to the African diaspora, layering it with profound visual metaphors. It visualizes the historical reality of earthly trauma, specifically the horrors of American chattel slavery depicted at the bottom. Every black figure in the painting is crowned with a vibrant gold halo. By placing halos on the survivors and the African deities alike, she shows that black ancestors are fundamentally divine, choosing to celebrate their inherent grace, strength, and beauty.

Rainbow Serpent from the book How to Raise and Keep a Dragon by John Topsell
Want to post some oc stuff here also…so here’s Cozatiuh (Pic 1) the ancient Spirit of the Rainbow from Chichen Itzá.
(Coza is in charge of precipitation and sorcery. He is like an ever-changing radiance and still worshipped as an elder god in some regions in Dreamland.)
And Pic 2 shows Coza’s half-human form and some of his divine colleagues
