Rainkit was born after her father, Rainbelly's death, and was therefore named after him. Growing up, she loved the attention she got from having a deceased father. She often bemoaned and cried about how she wished she knew him, and listened to tales and stories about him despite not really caring. She also prided herself on her looks, as she looked 'just like her father.' She and Snowkit both cared a lot about being pretty and cute, and became attached at the hip for it. Rainkit often made fun of their other brother, Dewkit. She also became jealous when her denmate, Oatkit's death outshined her.
As an apprentice, Rainpaw was often bored of her mentor, sneaking off and ignoring his orders. She enjoyed talking to the other apprentices and young warriors, bragging about her beauty or her skills. She and Snowpaw enjoyed lazing off and basking in the sunlight, grooming their pelts and gossiping about others. She found herself disgusted by eating, as she hated when she put on weight. She became picky about what she ate, often only having a mouse a day, sometimes only half. Snowpaw, Dewpaw, Hatchpaw, and Darkpaw all expressed concerns about it, but she often defended herself by saying they ate too much.
She flirted a lot with the toms as well, and hung out with the toms her age- Thrushpaw, Pinepaw, Hatchpaw, and Darkpaw) in attempts to be 'one of the boys.' She often put down the other she-cats, namely Featherpaw, who was the most insecure of them all. Her crush often switched, but she focused on Hatchpaw when a former kittypet named Gracepaw came along. It was clear Gracepaw and Hatchpaw crushed on either hard, and Rainpaw was livid that Hatchpaw wouldn't pay attention to her the way she'd like. She'd torment Gracepaw by mocking her and putting ants in her nest.
She and Snowpaw both almost had their warrior ceremonies delayed by slacking off, but Snowpaw worked hard, and Rainpaw pretended to. They became warriors named Rainleaf and Snowdusk. Rainleaf was quick to search for a mate, asking out Hatchfur only to be denied. She also asked about Pineshine but he, too, denied her, although he was more nervous to do so. Rainleaf was wrapped in hatred, but then new apprentice Thawpaw began mooning after her. He was always so nervous around her, giving her flowers and trying to impress her. Rainleaf noticed, and began complimenting him. She played hard to get, but when he was an older apprentice, they were practically official. Then he became Thawfeather, and asked her out, and Rainleaf was ecstatic.
She pressed him for kits, but he didn't feel ready. He wanted more time to spend with her alone, and didn't know how to be a father when he still felt like an immature apprentice. But, moons later, it was revealed that Rainleaf's father had been murdered by his own sister and in cahoots with BoneClan. Rainleaf ate the attention up, playing the role of a mourning daughter once more. But she came across a BoneClan rogue one day while on patrol. While her clanmates scared him away, she felt intrigued. That night, she tracked him down, and the thrill of doing something so wrong only made her want to do it more. She hung out with the tom frequently for many nights, ignoring Thawfeather, up until she realized she was pregnant.
She pretended the kits were Thawfeather's, and the tom was happy although nervous. She enjoyed how he fussed over her and catered to her every needs, but when their birth neared, she became apprehensive. If her clanmates figured out these kits weren't Thawfeather's, but of BoneClan, they would despise her. Even her pretty looks wouldn't be able to save her. So, when she went into labor, at night, she snuck out of camp. She birthed them outside of ShadowClan territory, and made a quick decision- she buried them alive.
The deed done, she returned to camp in the morning where Thawfeather had been frantically looking for her. She wailed and told him their kits had been stillborn. They grieved their loss and Thawfeather named them Sunnykit and Dawnkit. The mourning lasted many days, and Rainleaf grew bored of it. She missed being a pampered queen. So she convinced Thawfeather they had to have more kits to make up for the ones that died. Thawfeather, once again, was hesitant, but couldn't say no to her.
They had kits, and Rainleaf refused to let Thawfeather name any of them. She named them all after herself- Rainkit, Leafkit, Lichenkit, and Poppykit. She coddled them and prided herself on being the 'best mother.' She chided Thawfeather for being too much of a kit himself when he played with his sons. She told her kits to be pretty, handsome, and perfect, because they had her blood. She controlled how much they ate, and belittled Leafkit for being too fat. She was upset that Rainkit seemed 'slower' than the other kits, but pampered him because of the attention the other queens gave her for being 'so good to him.'
She didn't want to leave the nursery because it meant losing some of her pampered life, but she also didn't want to remain a 'boring' nursery queen. So she returned to her warriorship when her kits became apprentices. She made sure they were being trained right, often sitting in on their training sessions and demanding to go on patrols with them. She sat with them when they ate and told them who to hand out with.
But her time in the living world was cut short. During a stormy night, lightning struck while she was on patrol. A tree came crashing down and ended her life immediately. When she awoke, she was aghast to find herself in the muddy, damp Dark Forest. When she confronted StarClan at the border as to why she was there, Snowdusk greeted her with a glower. He had Sunnykit and Dawnkit, their eyes and ears shut and bellies pink, with him. He told her she deserved everything the Dark Forest had to offer and to 'enjoy its mud.'
She was left to wander the Dark Forest. Enraged, she started attempting to reach the dreams of her kits- and she succeeded. There, she manipulated them. Anyway to destroy the clans and StarClan and she would be pleased. When she heard of MoonClan, an anti-StarClan group, she persuaded her kits to join them. She watched as chaos erupted, happy to see the clans tear each other apart.
Fun Fact: She has narcissistic personality disorder.
