daithí is a single dad living in henford with his teenage daughter felicity. they’ve got a quaint house on a quiet road with an open garden.
things had always been rocky with his long term girlfriend. hoping that things would get better between them when felicity came along, they soon realised that things just weren't going to work. they split up not long after felicity turned four, and daithí decided it was best for her to stay with him because her mother travels for work. nowadays they co-parent with felicity staying with him on the weekdays.
daithí is a veteran daniel stan. he’s been following daniel’s career since before his big popularity boom. he has very proudly collected every single episode of ‘your dad’s garage’ and has them neatly arranged in order of their release date. he bought a very pricey signed poster on e-bay that probably isn’t even legit and he has a little backyard space dedicated to crafting items made on the show. he’s not great but he tries! he doesn’t really watch them for the carpentry tips anyways, there are more interesting things to look at in the show.. 👀 he also made some bootleg merch from a t-shirt printing store that says “#1 daniel fan”
up until last year daithí worked as a caretaker for the library across the road. he had no problem with the job but decided to give it up to pursue his hobby as a career. he’s always had a passion for drink making, and now runs his own craft beer business from his backyard. he sells it on to local pubs and its been pretty successful!
seeing as he works from his garden and he’s in the house alone on the weekends, he decided to partner up with the nearby vet shelter to take some dogs off their hands. he fosters puppies and tries his best to house train them alongside his own four dogs. the place is usually pretty hectic with dogs doing zoomies throughout the whole house but it’s something he’ll never regret getting himself into.
daithí has absolutely no idea any of this is happening. he doesn’t know what ‘kiss me in komorebi’ is, nor does he understand the concept of a bachelor challenge. felicity’s decided not to tell him about the application unless he secures a place, fearing that he might get his hopes up too much.
some fun facts:
everyone always asks him what the meaning behind his face tattoo is. he tells them that it’s a very personal and meaningful reason that he’d rather not share, when in reality he just got it on a drunken night out as a teenager.
he’s the calloway twin’s uncle on their mom’s side. cillian thinks he’s cool but cathal is scared of him. he thinks he’s too loud 😭
he has the strongest accent in the family, and it’s really bad. like it’s difficult to understand what he’s even saying if you don’t know him.
felicity really wanted a septum piercing for her birthday one year, but she was too scared to get it done. daithí made a promise to her that he’d get it done with her so she wouldn’t be as nervous. so now they’ve got matching piercings!
if he does get a part in the show, it’s going to be very difficult to get him to do any of the ‘outdoor enthusiast’ challenges that the producers might have in store. he absolutely hates the cold and is very much a comfort zone kinda guy when it comes to danger.
he’s a big grump in the mornings, but a cup of tea will usually fix that.

Aaliyah was born and raised in San Myshuno, spending most of her life in a small but comfortable apartment with her parents and younger brother. She’s never been a big fan of travel, thinking, for most of her life, that nothing could ever take her out of the city. A city girl in both heart, and soul.
The thing about Aaliyah that most probably would be surprised to find out about her is her absolute love for trashy reality TV. She finds them cheesy but hilarious and can never keep herself from tuning into the latest episode of whichever show she’s been watching, usually more than one. While watching “Bachelor in Sulani“ with her best friend Solange, a commercial popped up for casting call for “Kiss Me in Komorebi”, a show neither of them had ever heard of. But she HAD heard of Daniel Taylor, who had more or less disappeared from the headlines for a while. She was intrigued, and Solange could tell. At first, the idea wasn’t appealing to Aaliyah, but after much pressing from Solange and incessant reminders of how she still hasn’t found a partner to settle down with, Aaliyah finally caved.
This is her first time outside of San Myshuno for a significant amount of time, and she’s nervous, but she refuses to show it.
She has a moderately popular podcast and blog, but she chose not to announce that to the casting directors, not wanting anything to influence their decisions nor did she desire to mix her professional life with this, which she considers just a personal adventure of sorts.
Her parents, brother, and best friend want her to find a partner more than she does, but she is genuinely interested in Daniel and this show. And if she doesn’t get a partner out of this, she’ll still have gotten the experience and a story to write about for her followers.
Aaliyah is an ardent lover of all things caffeinated, especially coffee (she’s on a first name basis with most of the morning shift baristas at her local favorite coffee shop), and will get very grumpy if she hasn’t had any caffeine yet. Everyone, say hello to Alante Hopkins, my submission for @rainymoodlet's Daniel Taylor Bachelor Challenge!
Alante is a 42-year old mother of two grown boys, originally from Del Sol Valley. Alante was very young when she married her high school sweetheart Jeremy Hopkins, and while things were good for a while and they had two beautiful sons, Jeremy became more and more controlling and dissatisfied with his life. He blamed Alante (and even the boys) for his mental health issues, and used a lot of emotional abusive tactics to keep Alante with him for as long as he could. When they were together Alante was pretty meek, trying to keep her husband as mollified as she could for the boys' sake, but she wasn't able to protect them from everything.
At age 40, when the kids had both left for college, she found the courage to leave Jeremy and start a new life for herself. She bought a small cabin in Granite Falls, far away from Del Sol Valley and Jeremy's influence, and threw herself into the wilderness to begin a new life and start re-learning how to be self-sufficient.
When her sons heard that Daniel Taylor's Bachelor Challenge was accepting submissions, they immediately started plotting to get their mom to audition. Alante had been a huge fan of "Your Dad's Garage" when it originally aired, always watching the reruns over and over with her kids when they were young, and it was obvious she had a huge crush on Daniel considering how often she liked his posts on Simstagram. Her newfound love of the outdoors and woodworking just clinched it. The boys couldn't think of a better match for Daniel, or for a better way for their mom to come out of her shell a little bit and see just how wonderful she really is.

world-weary retired professor seeks companionship lightyears outside of his comfort zone.
josiah has never been one for reality tv. he isn't much for tv as a whole, honestly. he didn't hate it, he's that crotchety. but there were always books to read, or to write, always adventures to be had, always somewhere to be. so no, he isn't one to sit down in front of the television. unless, of course, it's to watch reruns of "your dad's garage".
god, he loved that show. he's a few years older than daniel, but that show popped into his life during a messy divorce, and he was instantly hooked. he was absolutely devastated when daniel got hurt and the show was cancelled. his prized possession is his collection of vhs tapes of all the seasons.
now, this long-time bachelor who wandered the world had enough adventures that he feels he can settle down and write about them. he was a professor at britechester for awhile, but he's too much of a vagabond to stay in one place for that long. currently, he's calling moonwood mill home; the locals are friendly enough and the town is full of stories. all he's missing is someone to share it with.

Stevie's mother fled when she was only two and left her to "chase her dream of acting," and she simply couldn't do it with a baby on her hip. Her grandmother tried to sugar-coat the truth, but she told Stevie why her parents weren't in her life when she was thirteen, on her birthday no less. Stevie started to idolize those who were surrounded by people who cherished them, and no one had more people supporting them than a celebrity.
Stevie started to carry herself as such, she became overly meticulous about her image. When she graduated high school, she scrapped together what little cash she had and got the hell out of rural ass Henford-On-Bagley. Of course, she kissed her grandmother goodbye and promised to visit. She did odd jobs in her lifetime (including becoming a sugar baby for a certain Landgraab) and had many failed acting gigs. She ran through men and women alike, just trying to repair her damaged feelings from her childhood. So, here we are present day. Stevie had just viewed the commercial for Kiss Me in Komorebi starring Daniel Taylor. Could this be her passage to fame? And better yet, could she finally connect with someone and fulfill her regression? Maybe the fifth time's a charm!

Adina is somewhat of a hopeless romantic. she's had several relationships, many doomed from the start, and she's always fallen much too hard and much too fast for the wrong types of people. she said she'd quit the whole love thing when she was younger, to focus her pursuits on her archaeological interests, but she can't deny it: her heart yearns for love. it doesn't matter to her if she's a "late bloomer." she wants a happy marriage and a happy family.
currently, she's taking a sabbatical from her work as a professor at Britechester. she told the faculty it was because she wanted to study the Komorebi culture, but really it's because she wants to meet Daniel Taylor. she'll probably get caught soon enough, but what academic watches trashy reality TV, anyway? and at this point, she doesn't care if she gets in trouble. she needs change, she needs to take a risk, and Kiss Me in Komorebi seems like exactly what she needs to save her from wasting the rest of her life.
