Cría Cuervos (Carlos Saura, 1975)

since seeing this for the first time i have seen a lot of Carlos Saura movies, a lot of Geraldine Chaplin movies, and heard a lot of Jeanette songs, a yeah nothing compares to this. Maybe Soy Rebelde is a better song.

Geraldine Chaplin and Monica Randall in Cria Cuervos (1976), written and directed by Carlos Saura.  Carl was born in Huesca, Spain and has 49 director credits, from three shorts 1956-58, his first feature in 1960, to two films currently in production.  His other notable films are Ay Carmela and Tango.

Ana was born in Madrid, and has 52 acting credits, from 1068 as a two year old, to 2018.  She was also in Spirit of the Beehive (as a seven year old), ranked number 113 on the TSPDT list of the 1,000 Greatest Films.

Cria Cuervos (aka Raise Ravens) is number 900 on the 2019 edition of the TSPDT 1,000 Greatest Films.

Critic Leslie Halliwell gave the film one star and wrote “Elliptical story of childhood and of women trapped in a world of men; it is never less than watchable, but its meaning, possibly obliquely political, remains obscure.”
