Movie Monday! #99

 ‘Movie Monday’ is a blog post I share every Monday talking about the 3  movies that have caught my attention to the most that week. Sharing how  their plots, how their trailers attracted me and what the critics have to say  about them (if it’s already released).  You can click on the name of the movie to see the trailer.

1. Raazi (2018)

Raazi is a true story about a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It depicts the journey of an ordinary Indian girl, under extraordinary circumstances. Sehmat, is sent to Pakistan in 1971, to source out any information she could, as war was becoming imminent between India and Pakistan.

Starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role.

With Vicky Kaushal, Rajit Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat.

I adore Alia and Vicky, they are one of the finer actors in Bollywood right now, so obviously I had to check the trailer out. I had no idea about this story so unsurprisingly I am intrigued by it. It looks very well-made with hopefully some layered themes. Also the fact that it’s directed by Meghna Gulzar helped put the final stamp of approval. Eagerly looking forward to it’s release.

2. Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Rachel Chu is happy to accompany her longtime boyfriend, Nick, to his best friend's wedding in Singapore. She's also surprised to learn that Nick's family is extremely wealthy and he's considered one of the country's most eligible bachelors. Thrust into the spotlight, Rachel must now contend with jealous socialites, quirky relatives and something far, far worse -- Nick's disapproving mother.

Starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding in the lead roles.

With supporting roles by Michelle Yeoh, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong and Nico Santos.

In the past decade if there’s one genre which has been going through serious traumatic time it is romantic-comedy. Either most the movies are just bad or crass R-rated (which are not technically rom-com but still end up in that category). Last year’s The Big Sick was a nice change, but off the top of my head, I can’t think of any other movie.

So, I’m very much excited to see this film. Not only is this going to have a positive impact on the diversity issue in Hollywood, but also just from a movie buff’s point of view, this film looks like a fun time at the cinema.

3. Puzzle (2018)

Agnes, taken for granted as a suburban mother, discovers a passion for solving jigsaw puzzles which unexpectedly draws her into a new world - where her life unfolds in ways she could never have imagined.

Starring Kelly MacDonald, Irrfan Khan and David Denman.

I first came to know about this movie when it premiered at Sundance and since then have been itching to watch it. Who doesn’t like a good getting-to-know-yourself kind of movies; and judging by the trailer, it looks very well-made not to mention the cast is wonderful. I’ll be keeping my eyes on it’s distributors.
