[Important][Announcement] 2026-07-21 New Versions of Travel APIs

We are pleased to announce the release of new versions for the Rakuten Travel APIs as of July 21, 2026.

1. New Version Introduction:

We are pleased to announce the release of new versions for the following APIs as of July 21, 2026:

Travel/SimpleHotelSearch/20260731

Travel/HotelDetailSearch/20260731

Travel/KeywordHotelSearch/20260731

Background of the Update:

Previously, the Travel API provided a single aggregated mealScore field, which combined breakfast and dinner ratings. To provide more granular data and align with recent updates on the Rakuten Travel hotel detail pages, we have exposed individual ratings separately. Users can now access specific scores for breakfast, dinner, and cleanliness.

XML Structure Changes:

The mealScore logic has been upgraded to expose the following individual elements:

What’s New: In these new versions, the XML structure for Genre data has been updated to provide a more descriptive hierarchy. This includes enhanced information regarding the target genre, its ancestors, siblings, and children.
