Just a quick sketch of an AU in which Tron and Beck meeting an old rerezzed friend from the gamegrid.

Well, share with the rest of the class
(moss i promise you don’t want to hear this, pls don’t look)
I’m still working on it but it’s basically along the lines of no but what if kevin managed to recover ram from the outside and moved him over to the grid. yori still lives - she’s got her own (much larger) resistance to look after (that tron and beck have no idea about - i’m convinced lux had something to do with it, too, after her “this changes everything” when tron reveals himself ANYWAY on with the feels)
yori knows the renegade isn’t tron (he’s not tall enough for starters, and he fights differently)
anyhow. rinzler happens. mostly. he trashes beck, but tron manages to revert just long enough for beck to escape. (yori picks him up just in time to get him away from tron//zler and get him somewhere safe to be patched up)
clu’s not impressed with rinzler’s lapse. he manages to get hold of ram while he’s out doing something for yori’s uprising and decides to use him to test rinzler.
here’s the bit from my chat ramble earlier:
Jabber: tron fights harder than he's ever fought against rinzler Jabber: he will not derezz him Jabber: not him. not ram Jabber: he's already lost the program once Jabber: clu just leaves him in the arena with ram Jabber: only one program is coming out of there, and it's not tron, and it's not ram Jabber: clu doesn't care how long it takes Jabber: but sooner or later, tron will exhaust himself fighting Jabber: and then rinzler will take over Jabber: and ram's good, but he's not that good Jabber: (ram spends every second tron's in control holding his friend, their discs halfway across the arena floor because he will not give up on tron) Jabber: he just sits with him, holding him tightly but he's protective, not aggressive, and when he feels rinzler start to thrash he just clings to him Jabber: (every time tron fights back, he begs ram to end it for him, because rinzler's stopped him every time he's tried) Jabber: (ram's still holding him, not really fighting him off, when rinzler finally wins out) Jabber: (just with his hand on tron's face, covering his scars) Jabber: ram's last words are pretty much "It's not your fault, Tron. I forgive you." Jabber: Tron wins out again the second Ram derezzes in his hands. He feels him fall apart, voxels trickling through his fingers, and there's nothing he can do to stop it. Jabber: (The crowd cheers uneasily, egged on more by the guards standing over them than actually enjoying the spectacle) Jabber: Tron doesn't move from the spot for hours afterwards.
BUT HEY, YORI’S ALIVE? AND SHE TOTALLY SURVIVES EVERYTHING ONLY TO FISH TRONZLER OUT OF THE SEA AT THE END OF LEGACY SO THAT’S
THAT’S SOMETHING, RIGHT?? RIGHT???

These two better be in the next tron movie, or me and Disney are going to have a problem.
As I was making this, I realized Ram and Yori never shared actually met each other in the original movie, and that makes me sad.
