GOTHAM NOCTURNE: ACT III CONTINUES!
The Batman has returned, but his city is no longer the home it once was. A sinister order now governs the shadows of Gotham. An order so precise, so methodical, that there is only one thing that could combat it. What is this one force—this singular thing that could undo order? Even if you were told, you would not believe it. In fact, you may think it's a joke.

DC Comic’s Future State: Swamp Thing is a Sneak Peek to the Ongoing Series.
DC Comic's Future State: Swamp Thing not only provides a version of Swamp Thing battling humanity for control of the planet, but it also provides a peek into how Ram V. and Mike Perkins will approach the Green Elemental in their new ongoing Swamp Thing series. Future State is a two-month event that reveals the possible futures for the World's Greatest Heroes! Spinning out of the finale of Dark Nights: Death Metal, Future State will take readers on a journey from the near future to the end of time to witness the destinies of various DC superheroes and villains.
Since Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson created Swamp Thing in the 70s, the monster has been an evergreen horror character for DC. In his second series, The Saga of the Swamp Thing, not only did it introduced Alan Moore to American comic book readers, but it also served as a cornerstone for one of the most successful and influential DC Comics imprints, Vertigo Comics. Swamp Thing might not be a recognizable character like Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but he has experienced some popularity outside comics in film, television, and animation. The muck monster has always been a go-to character when it comes to horror in the DC universe.
When Ram V. wrote, and Mike Perkins drew the bookending chapters to this year's Legend of the Swamp Thing Halloween Special fans probably did not realize that the two creators would be making 2021 the year that they put their personal stamp on DC Comics’ most popular creature.
V. and Perkins, along with colorist June Chung and letterer Aditya Bidikar, present a future in Future State: Swamp Thing issues 1 and 2 where the remnants of humanity lie in hiding as Swamp Thing heals the Earth from the wounds of a terrible war thus recreating it in his image. When the Avatar of the Green encounters a human survivor and realizes the humans are gearing up for a rebellion, Swamp Thing has no qualms with bringing the war to the humans and not only matching their violence but using every creation on Swamp Thing’s new world to overwhelm the humans.
Even though the creators are tight-lipped about the cast and stories for the new Swamp Thing series, which launches in March, Mike Perkins wrote on Facebook, "This is a big one for me. From March 2021, Ram V. and I will be introducing a new Swamp Thing series. A real chance to make a mark on a character who has made a mark on me. We've hinted at elements of this in our work together in the Halloween special and the upcoming Future State - but this is a ground-level takeover with Mike Spicer on the colours."
Also, it appears from a comment from Ram V. that the series will be accessible for new readers.
Both creators have lent their unique voices to the well-crafted DC series recently. Mike Perkins took care of the art chores for the highly entertaining Lois Lane maxi-series. Since he signed an exclusive with DC, Perkins has drawn several Swamp Thing short stories, which really showcased how he is a perfect match for the character. Ram V. has written plenty of dark material for Justice League Dark. DC's favorite muck monster could not be in better hands for a new series. It be interesting to see where they take him and what characters Swamp Thing joins up with as the series progresses throughout 2021.

I will ALWAYS reccomend Kirby New Gods, but the only other info you need for the new series is that Highfather in it is acting very out of character, seemingly on purpose by the writer
And I even own the first two volumes of his Fourth World series, is this the time to finally read them? – it's going to the top of the pile at least!
I totally trust Ram V. to write a good story, I enjoyed his Swamp Thing, Catwoman and indie books I've read so far! I'm giving this new series a try, the art by Evan Cagle helps a lot too...
