RELEASE THE YNGYA HEADCANONS NOOOOW

Soooooooo I was at work when I wrote some of this down please bare with me (also some of these are less headcanon and more canon material touched upon)

* While Yngya was kinder then most, if not all, gods, even she wasn't immune to god-like behavior.

* This behavior would involve infantizing her entire kind (ex: teaching them that without her they are defenseless, telling them they couldn't fight back, etc.)

* And just because she was benevolent (enough) doesn't mean she wasn't prideful. She was stubborn to the core, and wholeheartedly convinced herself she could talk some sense into The Bishops (despite the fact that everything would fall on deaf ears)

* Very much a "Mother knows best but had good intentions"" type.

* You could argue that this partially stemmed from the fact she didn't want to lose her flock *again*

* You heard that right *again*.

* Because a long time ago she had three siblings (2 sisters 1 enby) that were killed by the Bishops at the beginning of the god purge. (And another reason why she resents Shamura + the other bishops present day)

* Which was why she got scared and created Woolhaven on Mt. Ewefalls (her original home mountain)

* as a mortal she suffers from both heart problems (thanks sariel) and backpain(thanks bishops)

I love the idea that neither the bishops nor Narinder were innocent regarding the schism.

The bishops feared that Narinder might have been surpassing them in terms of devotion and followers. As a heretical god, Narinder was slowly going mad with power that wasn't even meant to be his in the first place, now possessing the ability to revive the dead and potentially disrupting the order between life and death. This ultimately led to the schism and Narinder's banishment, both ends being born out of desperate and selfish wants.

so theres been a whole debate regarding the woolhaven denizens vs the free pack/wolves in general and the argument that ewefall didnt belong to the lambs ( or at least the woolhaven ones ) do you have any thoughts on this? personally im trying to understand their arguments but it feels kinda icky demonizing the woolhaven lambs for being pissed at the free pack ( and techically hagar bc shes also a canine/wolf but tbh i feel like it was more of a coincidence she was a canine ) its also unlikely the freepack was on the mountain first for a number of factors

If anyone had focused on the lore, they would have realized that Woolhaven was established before the call for their execution. When the god purge occurred, she hid herself and her people in the mountains, which was likely centuries ago. Only after they were mass culled did Marchosias claim the mountain as his own. (under the cut because i wrote alot)

To be honest, the entire situation is more complex than one might think. Yes, the free pack are victims of the bishops, and Marchosias chose the mountain as their home. However, they are still on the lands of the lambs, whether or not they were deceased. It becomes even more troubling if you believe that Marchosias was once part of Shamura's cult, suggesting he was aware of what happened to the lambs but remained indifferent. I mention this because he references Shamura in one of the lore papers, but it’s best to take that with a grain of salt.

Let us not even start discussing the demonization of the inhabitants of Woolhaven. Yes, they nearly caused an apocalypse out of anger and used the Yngya's heart to do so. What people fail to recognize is that this is a reaction from an entire group of individuals whose families, friends, and neighbors were brutally slaughtered due to the cowardice of the bishops. They essentially fulfilled their own prophecy and have every right to want Hager away from them, whether or not she desired that, and it is unfortunate because Hager made herself suffer by traveling through the rot. Both of them are valid in their own ways. Hager was a weapon that was used to kill the lambs, and the inhabitants of Woolhaven…

No one is necessarily evil (especially the bishops, to some extent), but no one is necessarily good either. But I will be side eyeing people who say the lambs are worse then the bishops because they were literally their opressors and literally the rot thing wouldn't have happened should they have left them in piece amongst other things.

Woolhaven headcanons

The population of Woolhaven was approximately 180, consisting of around 130 adults and 50 children. With that in mind, there was an overpopulation issue. Goats were also members of the community, as they too were being culled for good measure by The Old Faith.

Woolhaven had another area other then The Plaza; Horn Avenue is a prominent one with more houses and buildings; The grand hall, The Healer's Hut, The Shearers, and The Storyteller's stage. 

Since the genocide of Sheepkind and Goatkind began, Yngya had sought or guided those who did not reside in other towns to Woolhaven.

While they see no value in it, Woolhaven wasn’t really above sacrificing someone once in a while; though the sacrificed person would be a spy/bounty hunter who managed to get in wheather then their own. Quite literally it’s either them or the spy/bounty hunter in question.

Woolhaven allowed other non-lamb worshippers of Yngya to visit, mostly for diplomacy or trading (I’ll get to it another time)

The majority of older denizens got up, whether to get ready for the day, prepare for the sermon, or start working early.

While there were denizens capable of combat, they were outnumbered by those who were not (and this is Yngya's fault, as she unintentionally drilling learned helplessness into a lot of them and discouraged fighting by telling them they couldn't fight) (We'll also get to that another time) 

Woolhaven was hidden away by Yngya's magic, making it hard to find unless you had a silver bell on hand.

There were plenty of orphans, whether they were brought to Woolhaven or already lived there and lost their parent(s) either through natural causes or because they were outside the safety of Woolhaven and were caught by The Old Faith and bounty hunters.

Speaking of which, there was a strict rule about who could and could not leave Woolhaven: sheep and goats who were capable of defending themselves were allowed to go on missionary missions, healers are also allowed as long as they had a buddy. 

Children of Woolhaven, while primarily raised by their guardian or parent(s), were also taught by other members of the community.

Born in Woolhaven: Baraq, Chazaq, Koka, Aniel, Temi, Zawa, Erlim, Poyel, Orphans, Eleleth 

Not born in Woolhaven: Rami, Yorabba, Sariel, Asbeel
