Yep - that's my grandfather Jack Lanum after taking the checker flag in the very first #RamblinWreck race. He was a diehard Tech Man. He was also my first father figure. I remember the smell of his pipe, sitting in the den watching Pepper Rogers coach Tech games, and knee slapping with him to the tunes and comedy of "Hee Haw." I used to disturb his morning newspaper reading with too many questions... no suprise, right? His favorit's past time was tending his lawn. He would spend hours pulling weeds and then sit on the porch sipping bourbon over ice looking over his lawn.
