Twilight is not good. But jesus christ does it occasionally do some shit that just punches me directly in the throat.
So for those of you who don't know jack shit about Twilight (I don't blame you, you're free), Twilight vampires are essentially living marble. So in traditional vampire fashion, they are cold to the touch.
There is a scene where Bella's dad hugs her for the first time after she becomes a vampire (which he is not allowed to know or the vampire mafia will get him, he only knows that she's 'different' and something is 'wrong' now) and it fucks me up because there is absolutely NO FUCKING REASON Billy Burke needed to go THIS HARD with Charlie's reaction to Bella being cold as hell.
But he DID and I'm thanking him profusely for it because it really made me think about what it would be like to be a parent, to know something is going on with your kid, to feel that sense of wrongness in your gut, and know there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. And then!!! To hold them!!!! And realize they are as cold as a corpse!!!!! And then you hug them anyway because to hold them when something is wrong—is unnaturally, inhumanly different—is better than never getting to hold them again.
Anyway, this is a post about Danny Fenton and his parents.
Something I think no one knows au fans should consider is that I genuinely don't think Sam has a flight bone in her body. Danny tries to go ghost and she just clocks him. He's down for the count, out cold, dramatic voice: K.O, objective: dramatic reveal - FAILURE.
Danny, walking into the room covered in cartoon kisses: heh, you should see the other guy...
Dash then enters the room with a dreamy expression, very much looking like he just stuck his finger in a power outlet.

Okay so I've never really delved into Wes territory before, so someone may have done this already but what if Wes was like... psychic.
He can absolutely glimpse through Phantom's façade into the human boy he was before he died. He has his own little 'ghost sense' and it goes off when Danny gets near him. Like that Scene™️ in JJK:0 where Yuta Okkotsu walks into the classroom and everyone's spider sense goes off.
But it's just Wes who sees it.
It's not like he has some sort of paranoid conspiracy theory, even if everyone in his class treats him like he does. He has legitimate reasons to be suspicious of Danny—the dread that runs up his spine, the cold that comes off Danny in waves, the way, when Wes angles himself just right, he can see Phantom's face writhing beneath Danny's skin—and all Wes can think is, "How is no one fucking seeing this?"
He feels like he's going insane. Everyone treats him like he's going insane. And maybe he is. But even if he was that wouldn't be the worst part about knowing Danny's little secret.
The worst part is that Danny knows Wes thinks he's Phantom. The worst part is that there's a monster in Wes's school and it knows who he is. That seems to love to taunt him, to bat him around in its paws like a cat playing with its terrified food. Danny tosses him smirks when anything about ghosts comes up; Danny stares at him, seemingly purely to unnerve him; Danny crushed Wes's camera with his bare hands while looking Wes directly in the eyes. The evidence just adds up and up and up and all Wes can do is let it happen and try and warn people before it's too late.
