What’s a logical tag for fanart of dean being rescued from hell?

I’ve neglected to add one and it’s started to bug me how much hell art is getting shoved into the 4x01 tag.

So here’s a fandom life and society question for you:

Public domain is when things fall out of copyright. US law puts that at 70 years past the author’s death. Anonymous works on the other hand have built in copyright for 70 years past publication.

Fandom doesn’t stick to the laws very well, but stepping aside from theft and copyright infringement of active artists - given a) we’re mostly acting pseudoanonymously, under shifting urls across multiple websites; and b) there is often little to no way to tell if an artist has left the platform/left fandom or actually died. At what point does old art become “public domain” by our rules?

There are five thousand plus artist urls on the archive currently. I’ve done my best to consolidate url shifts over the years, but at the same time that’s mostly tumblr artists, with only a few da/lj/pixiv and practically none of the new gen of twitter or instagram artists. I’m missing so much, people creating in non-english fandom spaces (they do still exist) and old artists whose work never migrated platforms.

Statistically, some of those artists are no longer alive. A *lot* of those artists’ accounts are deactivated or deleted, and if it happened a decade ago there’s no way to tell the difference. But some of the art still exists out there on the internet. If you’re lucky or very very stubborn you can find traces of long vanished accounts to attribute a name to the art.

When is it the fandom’s art? When does moving it to a new platform (with links/attribs ofc) cross over into preservation and curation of history? How on earth do the older fandoms like the Trekkies handle this?

I found a piece of s4 art yesterday; original artist on DA deleted, LJ copies lost to photobucket purges; it was preserved on Know Your Meme where it was put (illegally) in 2011. One copy made it to tumblr back in 2012 ish, with zero attribution. But it’s on fucking pinterest, which means it can resurface here in 2021. All trace of the artist is a decade old, I have no way to find out who they were or why they left.

Does that art belong to the fandom?

I’m going to throw this out to my followers: I’m searching for a piece of art, Dean Winchester standing silhouetted, with a toddler version of himself in the foreground.

I have been trying to find this all night, and it’s stumping me hard (I’ve combed the smaller tags on the archive, I’ve combed my blog, I’ve combed half a dozen blogs).  If you remember it please send it my way, otherwise I’m going through 20k Dean posts by hand.
