What is your favourite memory?
April 14th, 2014
Watching Joe and Anthony Russo’s cinematic masterpiece Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Have you ever kicked a guy in the balls? Was it effective?
once by accident, never on purpose. i’m not opposed if someone deserves it though
Hey yall does henry/klinger have a ship name
Star Wars
I have a question about the movies (and show)... so long story short, my mom is getting permanent placement of all my aunts kids (we’ve had them for almost 2 yrs) at the end of April, so I’m painting a mural type of thing on the wall of the boys room but it’s going to be like an outer space type of thing w/ ships, planets, stars, etc and I have no idea what are the iconic things I should add.
So painting a Star Wars space mural, what planets, ships, etc should I add? From any of the movies, old or new.
I have no idea, but I want to make a folder of all the stuff I should add so I can map it out.
have you ever re-read the harry potter books as an adult? i've wondered how differently i'd view them now that i'm older, and lately i've seen some stuff on twitter about the gringotts goblins being antisemitic stereotypes and the portrayal of the whole house-elf situation being questionable etc. (+people finding it weird that not everyone noticed these things) and i'm just like uhhhh what have i potentially missed while reading the books as a child/teen lol
i haven’t actually read them in years (i think i last re-read the entire series before i went to uni the first time so that was 2011) and obviously there’s a lot of questionable stuff in there that you spot as an adult just by being a fan and knowing the series inside out...not to sound like nicky lol but i have an english literature degree so i’m pretty finely tuned when it comes to picking up symbolism, themes etc. they’re certainly not perfect and no piece of literature exists in a vacuum in terms of picking up its context - you should see some of the early children’s literature I studied at uni, so much racism and sexism! and it’s often hard to tell what was put there purposely and what wasn’t. there’s endless questions of that for harry potter. i wouldn’t expect children to pick up the more implicit themes though, they are very much fantasy books and children know that. like in terms of house elves being slaves, i didn’t grow up thinking slavery was acceptable just because i read the books as a child (and the books make a huge deal of hermione’s anti-house elf tirade!) and i certainly don’t consider myself antisemitic. I think if you’re aware of these things as an adult reading them that’s a sign you’re thinking critically about these things
