Silly Celeste thought again
Madeline listens to K-pop but doesn’t tell anyone
I can't wait for this show to re-visit 1x05 again. Because this moment has always bothered me. I don't get Louis' superficial chest injuries. It looks like he has twin bite marks on his chest post-1x05 beatdown. But I don't remember Lestat biting Louis anywhere aside from his neck in 1x05.
And even if he did, these bite marks don't look like common vampire puncture marks. Even the marks on his neck, while huge and angry, still look like vampire puncture marks. The ones on his chest though look more like human or animal bite marks. Like if a human used their entire upper set of teeth to bite into the skin. Or maybe vampire bites you might get when they're ripping into skin. Like when they're biting into their own wrists not so gently or like the unceremonious way Claudia often bit when she fed.
The other thing I considered was Lestat's nails digging into Louis' skin hard enough to puncture. But even nail marks wouldn't look like this I don't think. And Lestat was also holding Louis at his collar more than anything, not grabbing at his chest. Or maybe Lestat's knuckles made those marks. A bit unlikely, given the shape and symmetry and because blows would normally cause blunt trauma, but Lestat has punched clean through a human skull before.
I also briefly considered the bites being meant to speed up healing. But that would have to involve Louis being the one to bite another vampire and feed from them, not the other way around, wouldn't it?
It's just always been a detail that gave me pause. And they focused on it too. Because I think it's the first thing they showed us post-1x05.
It also looks like Louis already has vampire bite puncture marks on the right side of his neck here even before we see Lestat bite into him. Then Lestat bites him on the left side of his neck.
I just realized this, but it's also interesting and entirely saddening to me how this entire scene is like a parallel from hell of their first time. From them fighting for dominance pushing/throwing each other up against surfaces, to the bite to the levitating. It's very much almost a corruption/mockery of what I'm sure is one of Louis' fondest memories of Lestat. I find that fascinating.
