Saw some posts recently about 'roles' in systems and what 'is and isn't possible' 🙄 so let me start off with reminding everyone that every system is different and the roles or jobs within it will vary to the needs of that system.
Alright. Now that that's out of the way:
Tell us about a unique role or job in your system.
We'll go first.
We have a particular headmate who's job is dream director. His role is to monitor and redirect or guide us through nightmares and bad dreams. The need for this type of intervention has lessened over the years thankfully but during the height of our PTSD it was a lifesaving job that helped keep us from getting locked in dreams reliving some of our worst traumas.
Sit and share with us:
What's something special or unique about your system that you love?
We'll go first:
Our dreams are more often than not scenes from our inner world. They have a distinct 'flavor' to them that makes them distinct from regular dreams. This has allowed us alot of extra bonding time and has strengthened our community.
Random System Stuff:
99% of the headmates in our system not caring much about how we present.
Raph: I CAN'T GET OUR GODDAMN HAIR TO BEHAVE!!! 😡😭
Random System Stuff:
We tend to be pretty particular on the media we consume and are fairly cautious about what and when we watch new things as we tend to have a low threshold for gaining introjects at certain periods of time.
But we also have our safe media. A few shows that no matter what have been safe to watch that our system won't introject from for some reason. Our number one safe show is Bob's Burgers. We love it and have watched it a million times without having to deal with gaining introjects from it. Its one fo the few shows that always seems safe to watch for us.
Random System Stuff:
Idk if anyone else's introjects work like this but we have (mainly) two types of introject.
The first is probably what most people expected. Introjects that are brand new headmates who appear for whatever reason.
The second I haven't heard others talk much about but I'm certain isn't unique to our system. And that's fragments we already have in our system whom, for whatever reason, haven't developed full identities of their own yet who grab onto some aspect (or all aspects) of a character as their own. This leads to some wonky system memories. Like introjects who have 'just arrived' yet have a very clear and vivid memory set of their own of being in the system for months, years, decades.
I hope I explained that well enough 😅
Anyay, just a random thing we've noticed about our system.
Random System Stuff:
Some of us (me) literally JUST finding out we have fucking magic in our inner world!?!?!
Like... HELLO??? WAS ANYONE GOING TO TELL ME!?!
Just watched someone cast legit magic inner world to GET THROUGH A DISSOCIATIVE BARRIER I DIDN'T FUCKING KNOW EXISTED and go into a part of the inner world I didn't fucking know about. What the absolute fuck!
Can... can any of us do that or is it just certain headmates. Can... can I learn. It was the wildest shit I've seen inner world in a minute. And we have pink sky whales inner world.
Random System Stuff:
Having pets that can identify your switches, sometimes even better than your own system can.
It's hard to truly articulate this experience but each of my pets seems to have a favorite headmate of ours 😅 Sometimes its just the insistent stare as they try to figure it out. And if it isn't who they want there's a disgruntled huff as they trott off or if it is then the unbridled tail wags and excitement like we just walked through the door for the first time in three days. 😂
